It kind of highlights how the institutional Federalist/ right wing media/ threats from violent trolls online deal with fecklessness in Republicans vs. the lack of such institutional pressures on Democrats.
There were more than one Republican senators who knew that RFKJR, Hegseth, and Tulsi were dangerously unfit for the positions they were being appointed to and would be disasters. Thom Tillis promised Hedgseth’s ex spouse that he was a definite no vote. All eventually got in line (with the exception of a few pre-arranged pretend moderate no votes like Susie Collins)
Republicans know their careers will be over if they don’t toe the line. With this you had both AOC and Pelosi begging the senate to do their jobs, and predictably the only consequence for defectors is they’ll still get to go on book tours and probably grow in political stature by yelling at the left.
I’ll be shocked if anything at all happens to Schumer negatively until 2028
It’s not even necessarily the decision to pass the CR that’s so infuriating—I think they should have let the shutdown happen but I can also understand that a shutdown would have let Trump shut the government down faster, arguing that it was for funding reasons and showing that “non-essential employees” aren’t really needed. An argument could be made that Dems really had no leverage anyway and passing the CR at least buys some time.
But Schumer was all over the place with his messaging, apparently did not coordinate with the House Dems, and ultimately looked weak. And worse, it’s not just Schumer who is really bad at his job but the whole caucus, none of which denied unanimous consent on any votes. The whole party needs to be replaced, but Schumer is a good start.
Fucking sigh. Seems like the Democrats are perpetually cursed with some number of sellouts, appeasers, and/or prima donnas in their ranks. Last time, it was Manchin and Sinema. Now it's Schumer and Fetterman, et al. While the Klingon-looking dude was always a lil' bit sketch imo, Schumer's betrayal feels like a stab in the back from a trusted friend.
It will be a steep hill to climb, for any of the Vichy D-10 to earn back my support in the future.
Worried about government employees not getting paid? You mean there are actually some left that Muskrat and his band of prepubescent trolls haven’t fired already? Stupidest reason ever to vote with the cult. I’m so pissed.
While Schumer’s leadership is certainly under fire, I think there’s a bigger question at play: Is the problem Schumer alone, or is it a deeper division within the Democratic Party itself over how to balance activism with governance? In my latest op-ed, I tackle this very issue, arguing that the real struggle isn’t just between Schumer and Trump, but between progressives and the establishment over what the party’s future should look like. Curious to hear your thoughts on that!”
Schumer is worse than useless. He has betrayed us all. He's supposed to be the Democratic leader in the Senate, and had he stood strong against the CR, he would have emboldened enough of the other cowards to have defeated the CR. trump is pathetically weak, and has always backed down when others stand up to him. Schumer can't even do that, but he can go on a book selling tour. Pathetic!
I really don't know if anything matters anymore. Well, I assume defeating these 10 will help get some outcome. The operating principle here out will be for Democrats to do more with less. But if people want to get them gone, the primary campaigns need to start now so prod your faves at this moment.
I usually support you, but this is too much. Not only do you do a 180 on the CR, you now expect us to spend $56 to come to your book tour?! The American people are rapidly losing faith in Democrat party, to which I have been a member for 52 years!
Where is your common sense? People are losing their benefits, 401ks are tanking and we are cruelly arresting, incarcerating, and deporting illegal and legal immigrants . Not to mention all of our institutions are infiltrated with traitors. They are trying to start a war with Canada, Panama and Greenland. AND we now side with RUSSIA!! But, I guess your book is more important.
Your are the Senate Minority leader, your job is to make sure you do what's best for us and to be a leader that the members of your party look up to. The only one who looks up to you, besides the 8 that blindly followed you is DONALD TRUMP. And he'll throw you under the bus in a heartbeat.
Dan Savage wrote about his own father voting for W even though W was anti gay. Savage told his father, who said W supported those poicies "just for the votes" that it didn't matter if someone punched him in the face because the needed the votes or because they believed it, he was still getting punched in the face.
We are all getting punced in the face.
And the fucking gym? Seriously? As we watch federal employees stripped of their jobs? Might as well be a cigar smoke filled back room there, Chucky. You are old and out of date. Get out of the goddamed way.

Bo MONEYBEGS until Schumer is out as leader. Wrote the DNC and tell them now! Put Warren in that position!
Charlotte Clymer did it: https://www.change.org/p/boycott-contributions-to-senate-democrats-until-chuck-schumer-steps-down
I've signed and donated. Will you join me and 32,000 others?
I've written my senators telling them that if they don't remove Schumer from leadership, I'm holding them accountable.
Schumer sold us out for some magical thinking beans that won’t grow jack shit.

What exactly has stopped Musk and Trump from shutting down the government thus far?
What do you think will stop them from continuing to shut down the government, Chuck?
You're loudly answered, "Not Congress."
Coward.

Also the electorate has to upgrade.
and he’s got the chutzpah to hawk his book
This is what I posted on his website page:
Senator Schumer,
I usually support you, but this is too much. Not only do you do a 180 on the CR, you now expect us to spend $56 to come to your book tour?! The American people are rapidly losing faith in Democrat party, to which I have been a member for 52 years!

Do your job or get out of the way.
Chuck has canceled his book tour because he is afraid of all the protests that are planned. The message may be finally getting through to him.
Yep. Lead, follow or get the hell outta the way.
It's one thing to have a bully slap a "kick me" sign on your back. It's an entirely different thing to have it embroidered on the back of your jacket.
or more to the point, to embroider it YOURSELF onto the back of your jacket
And then plan a tour to show it off.
"I DON'T CARE DO U?" Who wore it better?
