Schumer- “well you know that fever is gonna break when Trump hits 40”…what a clueless and spineless response that completely misses the destruction occurring now and the people who were already in the streets to support forcing the Muskrat out. We’ve seen that Trump will fold when confronted and throw people under the bus and the Cabinet is fractured and wants Musk out.

His people would have started leaking again and Trump would just Musk a Medal of Freedom and kick his weird ass out.

3 weeks and. We’d have a win IMO.

Bravo, PTG. Somehow Schumer is channeling the guy from "The Graduate" who advises Dustin Hoffman: "Plastics."

Hey kids, Schumer is playing chess and you want him to play checkers. Grow up. Fighting amongst ourselves is not getting the job done. He’s the minority speaker. Learn from the old and start working Together.

Well, Thank You for your assessment.

If I have hurt any of your feelings…. I apologies!

I’m not saying don’t question your leaders nor get mad. Be smarter. Be together that’s old, young, every color , nationality or gender. All I see is the young are getting upset with the older generation. The blame game doesn’t work. The majority of old folks don’t like what’s happening to this country either.

This is the time to pull together. In 56 years of battling for every right for all yet only having two Presidents I voted for win ;Obama & Biden, in that time frame has not been easy. That’s starting at age 21. I couldn’t vote till 21 but could go fight an undeclared war..fight against it…be called a communist by that older generation then but understood why they believed as they did. Still trying to help them understand the facts. So old fart if you’re not 77 … you’re young.

Let’s fight these radicals together.

Well Stephen, now that I have your attention, old fart and others. What I’m pointing out here is that crashing the economy is far worse. That would give the orange buffoon a legal means to do far greater damage. The courts have held and pray the Supreme Court holds too.

This is a battle between the Haves and the Haves Nots…the Haves want it all. They are not smart … just very greedy. This is not the first time the Haves tried to take over the government. It happened under FDR. One man stopped them and WW2…under Reagan and little Bush.

Be smarter, be better informed and yes be passionate but mostly be wise.

Know your enemy 1st before fighting then fight them till the end not by fighting amongst yourself. I’ve expressed my thoughts on Schumer “ we will win “ as out of touch but between a rock and a hard place. Less damages is better.

We stand together or fall together.

A Note: Ive been an independent since

they killed Bobby. I am not your enemy.

My son plays chess. My son has won chess awards. Chuck Schumer is not playing chess.

Also, lecturing us to “grow up” is a quick way to get banned here. The arrogant assertion that our “betters” are operating at a level we mere peons can’t understand is what got us in this situation, not daring to criticize our elected officials.

It’s such a typical fallacy of the geriatric class in charge of this party to take credit for the successes that you likely had nothing to do with.

Yes 2020 was a good year for Democrats. But it also followed a disastrously horrific year for the country where voters tend to punish the party in charge and there’s only one real alternative in this country. Congratulations. You won by default.

Pope Buck said pretty much the same thing, but I would like to reiterate.

Black women and WOC (represented in my mind by Stacey Abrams, Jasmine Crockett, and AOC) are punching waaay above their weight class.

They epitomize the way forward for the Democratic Party, if there is to be a way forward. This country club, “honored colleague” bullshit has got to stop.

It’s simple and obvious, Republicans are fascist. Fight them now or more people are going to lose vital support and more people are going to die. It’s already happening.

Schumer is also emblematic of the attitude that says "let's reject 'identity politics' and try to appeal to White people EVEN MORE."

Any idiot can see that the energy, the drive, the new ideas in the party are all being driven by the women and POC, and especially the WOC. It was super obvious in the energy whipped up during those heady four months when Kamala was the nominee.

The white guys who keep saying "let's not focus on identity politics" are really saying "let's keep the White guys in charge." And it's NOT WORKING.

I had the absolute pleasure of hearing Ms. Abrams interviewed at a conference up at Rutgers University last weekend. As much as I feel afraid and anxious from day to day right now, she had me leaving that room ready to get my boots on and get to work. These are the upgrades we need in our politicians.

saw his latest stop on Morning Joe this morning. they gave him a real easy side, didn't challenge his narrative at all. then did a discussion of his new book. nobody asked what happened—why did he announce on Wednesday that the GOP didn't have the votes, then fold on Thursday? Johnson was dependent on Schumer's votes; why didn't he get something/anything in return? and he **whipped votes**, I hear, to get his ten, which might explain why three of them aren't running again and have nothing to lose. but his smugness, his endless confirmation that while he professes to understand the threat he still operates (and apparently always will) in a different political world than we are now suffering in.

he gots to go.

That is what gets me - the Dems got nothing in return. Harry Reid may have been an old school Senator, but he wouldn't have folded without getting anything.

Harry Reid was a fighter. He looked old and his voice was frail, but he at least fought back against the GOP. I was so disappointed when Schumer was chosen to replace him.

I think people desperately clinging to power beyond their prime is the problem here (I know it, I'm from Cuba so I already saw this episode). Schumer, Pelosi, McConnell et al, are refusing to retire to a villa in the Mediterranean with the fine wines and healthy diet in exchange for the chance to torment us more with their outdated decision making processes. I'm afraid that in phasing out this upper crust (like in other choices), the Republican Party will prove to be more efficient than the Democrats. Buckle up, Dorothy.

Well this is the time for the Internet faves to get in the barrel I say. If any of them are feeling froggy, now is the time to jump. Schumer is apparently vulnerable and again as it typically is, his age is mentioned (75). So who is running against him? They ought to have their campaign up running right now.

His term ends in 2028. He’ll be 78. He will likely run again but it won’t much matter by then if he’s still the leader.

We know the new normal about campaigns though. They're going to be interminable, many-years long slogs. They really do need to get started now. Get the name out there, whomever the Internet fave is, so we don't have to go through a more brutal process later.

This is a great compendium of Schumers miscalls and misjudgments over the years. Whatever the reasons for Chuckles’ decision to fold, it seems to me that he folded way too soon. He doesn’t know how to play poker. But he needed to play chicken, and he doesn’t know how to play that.

Schumer is under the delusion that the Senate of today is still the back-slapping, good-ole-boy collective of 40 years ago, where they would use rhetorical flourishes on the chamber floor, and then all retire together to the cloakroom to work out reasonable compromises.

The world has changed and social media has changed it. Even more significantly, Trump emerged as a cult figure who seems to know how to break every system with the rabid support of his mouth-breathing and venal supporters. What is needed now is a charismatic spokesperson for the opposition who is comfortable grabbing public attention in every form of media. Schumer may be a pro at manipulating the arcane rules of the Senate, but the battles are being fought and won in public forums. And the gloves should be off.
