It wasn't just liberals who criticized McMaster for appointing Darline Graham to finish her brother's term, plenty of SC cons did so as well. I heard them, because I live here. They all voted for trump at least once, but some are disillusioned with him now. Doesn't mean that they will ever vote for a Dem, but it makes them more likely not to vote at all. Will heavy Dem turnout and low repub turnout in November help Dr. Andrews pull off an upset? I don't know, but it's a possibility. Anything can happen between now and the election, but trump doesn't have it in him to increase his favorability ratings, even in SC. In fact, he keeps doing things that piss people off, so that won't help a candidate who thinks that he's done a great job as president. Graham said something similar to that in answer to a question.
I hope that she’s defeated too, but am not holding my breath. It’s more possible that some who would vote for her (or for Graham here in SC), will stay home on election day rather than voting for a Dem. That’s OK, especially if Dems and Independents voting for Dems, get out and vote.
Susan Collins is a different animal. Lots of Democratic support over the decades in wealthy coastal areas otherwise generally disinclined to vote for MAGA, a ton of backing from the business community statewide. Her campaign ads don’t even mention she’s Republican, much less talk about Trump. She is running a whisper campaign that essentially says, “See how bad it is everywhere else? My power in the Senate has managed to shield Maine from the worst of it”. She’s actually not wrong about some of that, but between tariffs, ICE killing a guy in Biddeford, and now the escalating war of words with our next door neighbor Canada, it’s fraying badly. She’s still a formidable opponent and remains the favorite IMO, but it’s no longer inevitable.

And God please let Andrew’s win. Darline is clearly in Donnie’s pocket. She won’t do what’s best for her constituents but for the maniac in the Oval.
