He speaks the truth and trump and his gangsters are all criminals

"Walsh makes a living these days talking smack about Trump, so I don’t see why he thinks that De Niro can’t do the same for free."

Because of civility. It's OK for a Republican- when they do it they are "plain spoken" and "straight talking". They "don't suffer fools gladly", they "shoot from the hip", they have a "take no prisoners style". When anyone to their left does it, they are not only shockingly rude but also risking their entire political standing- even if they are not actually politicians. How dare they risk offending the notoriously brittle tough guys of the centre and right, the people they need to win- even, again, if they are not actually politicians.

I hope he keeps it up. Double time. We need more like him.

I see no problem with DeNiro making his feelings known. We’ve had to put up with all kinds of D-listers (exceptionally washed up actors) spouting nonsense out of their pie-holes. I’m happy a class A actor was able to put the screws to Trump. Across from the courthouse, no less. Lol.

That was a great speech by DeNiro. Also I had only learned that yesterday about the Tribeca Film Festival. And learning that DeNiro is actually an investor in NYC made Abortion Smoothie Goatee Thumb's comments particularly strange.

And of course President Klan Robe has all these cultists for free. So many willing to destroy their lives as well because the ethnic cleansing is that important. That's the way to fix whatever they feel is wrong about their lives.

I do want to circle back and look at the way the NYT framed this. You see it right there, even with the clean Democratic message, there is always Republican-owned media to reframe the message and shit on it. Oh it's just trolling while Speaker Covenant Eyes' team cosplay isn't. Just absolute bullshit and that's why NYT is every bit as important a part of the rightwing media human centipede as Faux News, because they help launder the rightwing frames for wider audiences.

The Democrats have been on message about how horrible President Klan Robe is. But we have to do our job - to educate and vote to make sure we flush these traitors.

Make sure to check your registration - www.vote.org is useful for that. Let's leave it all out on the road and mount up everyone!

History knows that life under a dictatorship means ridding itself of the artists and the intellectuals. The pathetic “washed up actor” is the only lame go to they have and not only is it pathetic but ineffective.

Also didn’t Jason Miller slip an abortifacient to his side piece when she was pregnant and wanted to keep the baby. Yeah. His ugly ass needs to be jailed too. That slug can crawl back under a rock.

"Trump is a bully, a coward, and a weakling, but he’s dangerous because he inspires his supporters to commit violent actions in his name. He doesn’t care what happens to them."

As I've been saying for years, Mr. Trump is the living embodiment of republic. Millennia strong...

If the US House can send its speaker to Trump cosplay, certainly three private citizens can take to the mics and call out Trump.

I'm still of the mind that it's all noise regardless; there's a small group of undecideds and they're not sitting in NY. I'm worried about the Arizonans who seem to think Trump is a better option, likely because of the border issue, without looking at the reasons BEHIND the border issue.

If the polls are any indication, the election will be decided by moderate young POC voters who are mostly pissed about inflation, not thrilled with immigration or crime, and don't care much about Trump's lawlessness because it doesn't affect them directly.

Well then they'll learn like the dupes for Reagan did in the end, if they survive it. Not our first time in this rodeo; this is the American way to wreck things further and lash out. Angriest, most hateful candidate wins now.

Seems like they’re ripe for trumps BS on his ability to fix their problems, though the abortion/contraception issue may play a big part too.

The youth in my family (predominantly Mexican American) are either conservative or super liberal. From what I can see, their issues are inflation/prices or Gaza.

My own kids are focused on abortion rights or hating everything the GOP espouses.

Yep--I'm hoping enough counter-messaging on the economy, focus on Trump's actual record in 2020--memories of his complete fuckup during his one unforced crisis--and comparison between what the two would policy wise will win over most of them.

LOVE the "Angel Heart" reference and yes, trump is even more evil than Louis Cipher could ever be. Cipher just wanted Johnny Favorite's soul, he didn't want to destroy the entire country.

way too much evil-mastermind credit. he's not visionary enough to 'want to destroy the country', he wants to vengefully rub his grievance in the faces of everyone {who knows better than to trust him with any money/power and actially dares to say so}. it's just a monstrously unhappy COINCIDENCE that that, along with letting his Fuenteses and Yoos run rampant, is increasingly likely to, as you say, destroy [all of the most valuable civilizing systems still barely operating in] the country.

Perhaps more stars like De Niro will step up to the plate now. They get headlines and people listen to them. The arts and film industry will not escape Trump’s ire if he gets back into the WH. Nor will the press which many of them seem to have missed.

Yeah like Reiner and Stephen King. They’ve been very vocal about this loser as well.

De Niro is one of those actors who combines raw talent with screen presence (Denzel Washington is another good example) in that when he's on the screen he just seems to dominate it. This is a guy who could convey menace under the surface of an awkward loner in Taxi Driver, a pugilist thug with vulnerability in Raging Bull, and a portrayal of Vito Corleone that arguably surpassed and expanded on Brando's. And he's 3/4 Irish, yet is one of the first that come to mind when you think "Italian American Actor".

For the people who are trotting out Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson to call De Niro "washed up" just doesn't deserve a response, especially from a guy whose head resembles an egg.

If white collar crime were treated even remotely seriously, Trump wouldn’t have been at large to run in the first place. Of course the useless fucking asswipe is guilty. In his endless inane babbling, he’s repeatedly convicted himself. Of this and several other seriously consequential crimes. If the US system can’t take this seriously, it’s beyond broken.
