This isn’t worth shrugging over. I wanted Lee, she had no war chest, it&s gonna be Shifty and the ex ball player is going to be massacred in November

There is a third way, Stephen. Her name is Barbara Lee. And as they slogan goes: “she speaks for me.” The only brave soul in all of congress to vote against the AUMF. Anti-war hero and not a sell out (though I wish she would be a bit more vociferous in condemning the genocide in Gaza).

I'm glad I'm too far north to have a dog in this race. Either would be fine with me.

I was kinda agonizing over having to choose between Porter and Schiff and was kinda hoping that they would both make it to the general elections. But with every negative email from Porter about Schiff, I feel less and less inclined to care whether she makes it to the general.

I've been pretty much holding back from donating to either of them until the results of the primaries, but if Porter had sent an email saying that she needed funds to make sure she beats that yahoo Steve Garvey to make it to the general where she could compete against a worthy opponent, I woulda donated.

This is where I was as well. I have until recently planned for voting for Katie, because I like whiteboards, but this isn't the year for squabbling, even in CA. I do understand her approach as her employment is depending on it, but I could also see her becoming a part of the second Biden administration(please may it happen) in some capacity if she doesn't trash Schiff too much now.

I had a slight preference for Porter which has now evaporated...sigh....

that is some disappointing shit right there

I like both Schiff and Porter, they each have their respective strengths. It’s too bad that Porter gave up her seat to run because I suspect Schiff will win and not having Porter and her awesome whiteboard holding people’s feet to the fire will be sorely missed.

Schiff is smart not to trash other Democrats. To me, he has more and better experience to be a Senator at this stage, and Porter's whiny antics are confirming that.

Until there are at least 50 women in the Senate, getting to gender parity needs to be a progressive priority. Gavin Newsom is to blame for replacing a Black woman with a Latino man when Senator Harris became VP. I am a California voter and huge fan of all three Dems but I’m on Team Porter this time. She is young enough to serve many terms and gain important seniority in the Senate. No shade on Schiff but in this race that extra X chromosome is important for representation.

Yes, the Senate growing less diverse after Feinstein's death *and* California being represented statewide by a white male Dem are not great optics. But it looked like Schiff had this in the bag from the jump. Really surprised that Porter would try to challenge him with no major institutional support.

She did announce first, and I was really excited about the opportunity to vote for her. That excitement was short-lived; as soon as Adam entered the race I knew she'd be playing catch-up. OC is gonna OC, so that seat is gone. Like with Manchin in WV, no other Democrat can win that seat.

The fact that you quoted Lex Luthor and I nodded along sagely has me a *little concerned* about my own cynical leanings.

I'm so annoyed that Barbara Lee is (apparently) no longer in the running that I can't focus on anything else about it.

What do you mean by “apparently?” Did you hear something I didn’t? Last I checked she was polling at 7%
