Yeah I am at sixes and sevens over the idea that a woman can't win in America because of sexism. Certainly it is a component. But a country like Mexico that is demonstrably more sexist than America not only voted for a woman for president but a Jewish woman to boot. I just wish there was a way to run parallel realities. I firmly believe without any ability to predict an outcome that Harris did much much much better than Biden would have done if he had run. I remember the massive sense of relief when she announced her candidacy and Biden stepped down. It was like a boil had been laced. The enthusiasm and energy was off the charts, and literally a matter of hours. I remember that massive sea change in the public conscience. All that can be said is that what she brought wasn't enough through no fault of her own. , but I have no doubt that she outperformed what Biden could've done if he had stayed in the race. There are other deep creepy factors going on that we have to address. look at all of the terrible horrible sociopathic women that the Republican party has foisted upon us with an almost cynical abandon. MTG, Boebert, Kristi Noem, the Nazi Barbie twins, etc. The idea that Republicans would conditionally elect women to office while Democrats wouldn't just seems wrong at face value. The reason that democratic women have lost presidential elections is based on other factors and contingencies outside of sexism. Flaming sexism on their loss is an easy way of self soothing our losses. Before I knew what the stakes were going to be in the years to follow, I wasn't a very big fan of Hillary Clinton. my criteria was to favor a progressive candidate no matter what their gender was. And I did vote for her when push came to shop in the general election. Kamala Harris ran about as perfect a campaign as could be run at such a late stage in an election cycle. I still give her 10 out of 10 considering the cards that she was dealt. Clinton and Harris are the only two female presidential candidates that have made a bid for that seat it's simply too small of a control group set to make any accusations of sexism as being the reason that they didn't get voted in. It's only been two women, and there were two very different reasons why they didn't tip the scale. And I have to say it again, the idea that Mexico could elect a female Jewish president tells me that sexism isn't the deciding factor here

Thank you. I suspected this human dynamic exists in more conservative southern areas, and it's interesting to read that it does. How can southern class anxiety, coming from concern with appearances, be defused or channeled into anxiety about extreme wealth at the expense of others and moral or ethical questions about fairness, humility, respect, honesty, and concern for others?

Southern conservatives outnumber their opposition by an absurd amount in South Carolina. The South has been a reactionary zone for hundreds of years now; no persuasion about class interests is going to turn them.

You need to pull a Georgia or Virginia and start importing better voters.
