Know what? If it's a lost cause, people ought to just...you know, vote anyway and see what happens. Do the thing.
After all, Donalds is a quisling who also made his bones peddling poison in the Black community.
As this is an unreconstructed state-based regime of terror I hope people are checking their registration, checking it twice, and making sure they have their voting plan together. After all, that's nice!
I was very excited to read Nixon won the prinary last night.
I recently learned more about DSA, I wanted to find out how they operate. The link is to a super lefty podcast (It Could Happen Here) but if you want to read it there is a transcript link on the page.
The guest is Grace Mausser, co-chair of the New York City chapter of DSA. If you are at all interested in how they work or why the elect-ability stuff is trash politics, there is good information here. The DSA is not a party. They are a nonprofit that lobbies for concrete policy and organizes for candidates. Mausser is speaking about the chapter she leads in NY specifically, so YMMV from region to region. I think their work is very exciting.
Like a lot of states, Florida has cities which are largely Democratic strongholds. Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami are mostly Democratic. Orlando is kinda 50-50. But it's a big state. I live in the north on the Redneck Riviera, and it's a 10 hour drive to Miami from here, and there are LOTS of Republican retirees. The poorer ones live in the vast middle which used to be taken up by orange groves, but now are The villages, and huge trailer communities. The richer ones live on the coasts south of Tampa, and near Fort Lauderdale. A lot of retired military live in the Panhandle.
Anyway, Vindman ran a campaign that assumed he had a lock on the nomination, and he is an uninspiring speaker. In a normal year he probably would have won his primary. But his loss is another sign that Dems are fed up with the status quo. Nixon has a huge uphill battle to run against the despicable Byron Donalds, but lets hope that enough people are fed up with the GOP running the state into the ground. And lets also hope that the Dem enthusiasm for change will carry through the rest of the country, and we can start turning this mess around.
Rachel Vindman claimed that Rep. Angie Nixon made personal attacks on her husband at campaign events, then proceeded to make a personal attack against Nixon. Something is wrong with that, but I just can't put my finger on it! BTW, why the remark about "...less than 20 people...? Would Vindman had thought it OK if the events had more than 20 people? Oh, she's indicating that Nixon can't get a large crowd for her events, which may be true, but she got more people to vote for her than for Vindman's husband, which is what counts.
Congrats to Angie Nixon for your victory last night! And nothing wrong with your clothes, including your shoes. Your style rocks!
Homeowner's insurance is very expensive in Florida. I know one person who has moved to SC because of it, and she has friends still in Florida, hoping to sell their homes and move elsewhere, but they are having trouble getting buyers.
I hate Florida-always have though. Bugs, strip malls, humidity, carpetbaggers, and now run almost exclusively by MAGA. The Third Reich with nice beaches. No, thank you.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz also won her primary in a newly redrawn district. Can we do the Bugs Bunny gif now?
Good. Vindman is AIPAC beneficiary.

Nixon is running against Ashley Moody for the U.S. Senate. David Jolly is running against the despicable Byron Donalds.

She deserved to win. Vindman deserved to lose.
Well said
The only really good thing about climate change is that Florida will be totally underwater soon.
