But the only thing that surprises me about this is that his sentence was commuted, and he wasn't given a pardon. Effectively this is just a difference without distinction; but his very real victems where shafted by this, because it nullified the financial obkigations of his sentencing $400K to make them whole..
Why even the MAGA-iest of MAGAts continue to slavishly support the guy who is literally fucking up their lives on a daily basis is beyond me, other than to say that this meets all the features of a cult. Like Jonestown, but Trump will charge them, extravagantly, for the Trump branded Flav-or-ade...
Usually when you do a Broadway show article, SER, I'll politely skim through it because, as you say, not everyone is a fan of musicals. πβππ one, however, I read, enjoyed, laughed, and even watched every one of the videos. The Tom O'Regan one was especially funny; maybe I'm just an awful person but I often find $76 million failures hilarious.
So, while I admit to being a bit "meh" on your other Broadway posts, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I might even start looking for potential flops on the West End to attend as a result.
I doubt that there is a more thorough fan of the late Charles Addams' work, but the excerpts from the musical were... let's just say I made it through less than a minute before noping out. WTF those costumed dancers (?) were supposed to be,what was the point of what looked like planned chaos to me, and where were the Chas. Addams inspirations? Okay, there were characters who could be taken for each member of the family, in a dim light, but the original TV show started far enough away from the source to begin with. Stretching the already tenuous connection miles further does not seem to me wise or entertaining. That farrago reminds me of a monstrosity I witnessed on Netflix last year, an execrable thing titled "The Haunting of Hill House". Shirley Jackson's heirs should have sued those behind that unintentional caricature of her work. All they retained from the source were some of the characters' names and the title. The rest was smack-you-in-the face-blatant where her novel was subtle, melodramatic where the novel delicately told the story of poor Elinor Vance's sad fate, as if every point had to be in 10 foot high neon and pushed by a brass band with the volume tuned to 11.
I'm gobsmacked by the surreal musical number with the dancing spiders singing about...shoes?
It's a perfect metaphor for the career of George Santos (big surprise, con man commutes sentence of conman). And I'm betting that Santos "will not be ignored, Dan" in the future, and will end up back in prison. Or not...who knows at this point what our future hellscape may contain?
Wait. βTurn off the dark?β Iβm really confused. Sorry I missed the actual point of the essay, Iβm still struggling with how a dark βswitchβ would work. Goddammit. I need coffee.
My Spidey sense says that Santos will leave NYC if his new job (with some RW grifting operation) requires it. If not, he will make some excuse for not doing so, should Mamdani be elected (with trump as president, I take nothing for granted).
"He announced this week that if Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor, which seems likely..."
It would seem to be a lock, based on they deeply hysterical editorial Bret "Bretbug" Stephens just shat out in the NYT https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/21/opinion/zohran-mamdani-israel-gaza-jewish.html?unlocked_article_code=1.vU8.KWFO.sUtiS3csdVOv&smid=url-share

I tried calling βstopβ and βholdβ a few times but they kept going on
LMAO
This thing stole from veterans. Now, with this commuting sentence none of them will be paid what they are owed.
As Iβve said elsewhere Iβm just glad Manson is dead because I feel certain heβd release him too.
I could ask, WTF is wrong with Rump but the list is endless.
This has blown my mind that there's yet ANOTHER "George" "Santos" scheme I'd not heard of! He is literally a comic book villain!
The career of Kitara Ravanche, International Drag Queen of Mystery, is sure to be revived!

A laughable attempt to distract from the roaring success of NO KINGS! II.

There's likely a nice, sweaty, warm embrace for him somewhere in the wingnut welfare circuit. Just they better lock up all the valuables.
Hilarious review, and now I look forward to your review of the cinematic masterpiece βThe Room.β
