Tangential to that is the notion that the irrational anti-science anti-reason thrust of the MAGA movement represents a crisis of education. Most people in the MAGA world are boomers and fellow GEN Xers. If anything we were the privileged generations that grew up at the zenith of an American education that was the envy of the world. So this isn’t an education crisis, it is a moral crisis. The idea that anyone learns how to be a decent person through a K through12 education is just silly. There are other much more nefarious factors at work. And blaming it on education deflects from the harder truths

I didn’t watch the video because I don’t want to buy a new phone from throwing this one. I think we need to keep in mind that for every Matt Putz, there’s more people not like him. Also, P01135809’s “victory” was a much smaller number of rubes than in 2020. 49% of those that didn’t freeze to death voted for someone else. Those candidates suck too, but anything that chips away at Trump is a good thing.

I definitely took your word for it, and yep it's pretty punchable. I'm still just shocked at these poll numbers. It's fucked up. I mean I want a way for Claudia de la Cruz to win.

Love how Republicans have redefined Karen from “white lady using her privilege to scream at and/or call the police to punish people of color for existing” to “woman saying something I don’t like”. As though the problem we had with the woman losing her shit and and threatening to have people deported for speaking Spanish in a Starbucks was that we didn’t LIKE her.

Honestly I think the Jamal thing is precisely because it’s not a very common name. The racists in my family are devoted to the belief that all the Black people they actually know in real life are somehow special, that the Black people they don’t know embody every stereotype the TV told them to be afraid of, and that making this distinction is unassailable evidence that they’re totally not racist. Approving of similarly theoretical Black MAGA devotees is just the kind of thing they like to pat themselves on the back for.

It's a testament to Republicans' myopia that they can say the sort of nonsense Matt Gaetz is spouting and still be against immigration, slag on cities as liberal failures and embrace white supremacy.

In addition to this guy being a child molester, a whacko, and a Right-wing nutter, he's clueless.

I think the only non-white persons he ever met were either his victims or hookers he hired.

One thing in this column I want to highlight: more people attend Taylor Swift concerts than voted for the Bloated Yam in the Iowa Caucus.

That says many things, the biggest of which: Taylor Swift is a better person with a better message than the Bloated Yam.

My wife invented the term.

I refuse to use his name.

Such a beautifully poetic mind your wife has!

Agreed: “He Who Must Not Be Named.”

Yeah, but that guy's real name was the very bland "Tom V. Riddle."
