Isn't Seth Moulton the guy who thought a story about him watching a five year old bleed out in Iraq was a case for making him president, rather than a case for revamping the VA?

Because hard decisions?

I found it:

The VA needs to do more proactively for this stuff. Dear God. No barriers, no cost. Just get them i there and treated.

‘… Moulton’s daughters probably have as much a chance of being struck by lightning than they do “getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete.”...’

It is beyond foolish, handing the control of nations to manipulative psychopaths over this, of all things. I feel like if we survive this era, we will have difficulty explaining it. What, this is why you did what? What. The. Fuck. Were. You. On.

It isn’t just vile. It’s stupid. Like fear of quicksand… If that was also incredibly, viciously shitty, and also led to fascism.

"You know, there are some words I've known since I was a schoolboy: 'With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied— chains us all irrevocably.' Those words were uttered by Judge Aaron Satie, as wisdom... and warning. The first time ANY man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged. I fear that today."

Sadopopulism needs some small minority, as llamaspit talks about before. And trans people, because they are small in number and a lot of the chuds believe they've never met one...are perfect for this. The chuds can project their vilest designs upon trans people as they're a convenient black box to use for that purpose.

And when you have a mass media (as part of the rightwing media human centipede) that's essentially a screen door on a submarine, you get them happily and uncritically repeating and legitimizing the smears. And so it goes.

Ugh, if only our leaders WERE more like Picard.

The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no farther!! (I know, bad example of good Picard, but even still)

"Mister Worf, villains who twirl their moustaches are easy to spot. Those who clothe themselves in good deeds are well camouflaged...but she, or someone like her, will always be with us...waiting for the right climate in which to flourish. Spreading fear in the name of righteousness. Vigilance, Mister Worf— that is the price we have to continually pay."

Trans people are human beings, and that makes them worth defending.

Not unlike - and it will happen because we're moving to 21st century feudalism- when nobles could sleep with commoner's wives as their "right".

In any culture war battle the key is to make the opposition look like the extremist weirdos and your side look like the regular people who are just trying to go through their normal lives. This worked with gay rights as it boiled down to “just let people love who they want, what’s up your ass that you have to mess with them? They’re not doing anything to you” and now even many conservatives consider gay marriage normal and sodomy laws offensive.

Same battle has to be fought with trans rights. “Let people just use the bathroom, why do you have to inspect their genitals, weirdo?” is the only answer a mentally unsound woman like Mace deserves. Focus it on “some people are different, you don’t have to understand them but you should understand that they shouldn’t be villainized or abused by these extremist nuts” and it’ll win out.

Picard is a great example. After that interaction with his superior he ended up disobeying and fighting for "the little guy" anyway.

The playbook is simple. Find a powerless group to demonize as an existential threat to standard whiteness, rally the witless morons who never look beyond the headlines against the group, present yourself as the savior of whiteness and motherhood, rinse and repeat.

And it seems to work over and over...

You will also find large percentages of trans people in union organizing. Knowing that their health care and job protections are more likely going to actually be useful to them when they have the power of collective bargaining, union leadership organizations have a higher percentage of trans workers than the general population. The thug staining the Resolute Desk with bronzer knows this (or his babysitter does) and will use this to try to destroy support for unions.

We all stand together or we are defeated alone.

Solidarity.

I have two trans women in my life: a niece and my son’s girlfriend. They’re very different from each other in skills, work, and attitude but both are loving people, as are most the people I surround myself with.

All these anti trans jerks aren’t too different from the bigots of before who screamed profanity at little Black girls who were just to get to school. Same tactics, same hate.

trump is good at exploiting fear of the the "Other" and at distractions (the latest is Gaza). If the MSM was practicing real journalism, they would know by now that he's full of hot air, and not breathlessly cover his blather. None of this is making the price of eggs to do down, but of course, that was just an excuse for people voting for their bigotry.
