A hell of a night.

Celebrate, folks. I'm proud of you all. You did the do and did incredible things, some still playing out.

The job's only half done. We now have to push Congress to do meaningful oversight for now; it is a huge majority but it is a semblance of a check (as impeachment/removal requires two-thirds). But definitely it will be time to deluge the new folks with calls and letters to encourage them to move forward.

Also a warning: Once inauguration happens and the new members are seated, know that both McCain's Law and the Fetterman-Cotham Effect are in effect right now. McCain's Law especially will be used to dampen support for Democratic initiatives, so keep top eye folks!

Still hoping for Collom in MS. That state needs someone who looks like the majority of the population. It’s time!

So heartened by all the women and Black Americans candidates that won but especially for TX and KS turning blue.

AND my home state of NC is finally Blue. SC? Color me shocked.

Good night overall and I’m hung over from celebrating too much.

Love to all and thank you SER!

That would be wild if that happened! I'm happy for you all!

What a feeling, to cast a vote for the first woman elected to the Senate from South Carolina! (I remain really bummed about the state-wide races, especially Dr. Johnson's loss for governor... we've got some work to do). Please let this be a wake up call to really invest in the South, in every race, all the time.

I am over the Carolina moon that my native state, NC, has turned blue - not just Cooper for the Senate, but Dem wins for the US House, and Dems have taken the NC House and Senate. Here in SC, where I grew up, and now live, after living in NC after I got married, Andrews has won the Senate seat that once belonged to Strom Thurmond. It's been 20 years since a Dem has won statewide here. It's a start!

Remember the rat fucking that a GOP did to make the governor (or Lt Governor) ineffective? Hopefully that changes too.

After casting votes for Susan Collins' opponent every single time for 30 years, the sixth one finally took. The Wicked Witch of the East finally couldn't out fly that falling house.

Let’s just bask in Scott Colom’s achievement here. Win or lose a black candidate fought Mississippi to recount territory. That’s a not since reconstruction kind of victory.

He deserves it. He had less cash and less publicity than the headline racers and still…Goddamn Mississippi!

I should have donated more. But holding out hope there.

Thank Gods Susan Collins is gone. I have more to say but I thought that crappy concern troll would die in office.

Over here in England, I stayed up until 3:30 a.m. (10:30 p.m. Eastern) and for the first time in a long time went to bed without a feeling of election night dread. My husband gets up earlier than I do, and when I rounded the corner into the kitchen this morning he was sitting at his computer with a little grin on his face. "Well," he said, "trump still isn't dead [it's the first question I ask him most mornings] but he may as well be." He started going over all the results he knew I would make my day as I made my coffee and, despite it being typically gray and rainy here, it's feeling like a great day! The comparison to how I felt the morning after the 2024 election is incalculable.
