Murkowski saw that there were three Republican NO votes and realized that she was Joe Manchin. She sold her vote for what she could get. We know what they threw in the bill but what went under the table? She is despicable.

If we keep changing our platform to appease the opposition party members, we cease to be Democrats.

To the extent Democrats turn off conservative, or rural, or working class voters I think it’s more an issue of image and communication than material policy. A lot of voters just picture overeducated elites who correct their grammar, and when you’re seen that way they don’t really want to listen to your 20 point plan for revitalizing the Rust Belt.

Murkowski probably just knows the Democrats are unpopular with her constituents (to a degree, Petolta won twice statewide there too) and figures she’s on safer ground caucusing with Thune.

Murkowski will never join the DNC. She’s making too much money getting paid to vote for bills that “concern” her.

[Political analyst Drew Savicki posted on social media, “Reality is if we want to win more Senate seats we need to be more accommodating to people like Murkowski who are socially liberal but have otherwise center-right views.”]

Basically, "Could we cozy up to billionaires more? Give them more stuff? And be hateful and mean to transpeople?"

Which is probably the opposite of what people actually want.

Now, I don't know if Americans would really want the second coming of FDR, but hell, let's give it a go and see what happens.

I have stepped back from following as much politics as I had done for the past 20 years, so was unaware that "Murkowski was going to switch parties." Yep, just another click bait headline, which tells me to skip it.

"Political analyst Drew Savicki"

Thank dog we have a political analyst on the job! The gravy train continues, day in, day out, in our permanent Political Industrial Complex. At a time when politicians can easily hear DIRECTLY from the voters, money gets spent on hog-bucket-slop like this instead of food, education, healthcare or infrastructure.

Thank your lucky starz!

Yeah I think that's the usual sort of "Oh someone in the unreconstructed party is going to have a conscience." Murkowski, like the others, knows where her bread is buttered. She knows that the best way for her is to stick with that party because the unreconstructed have great power and deference in the political and legal systems of the United States.

Sometimes pundits just—you know—say lots of things.

Who cares which party Murkowski caucuses with? Not me. It's how they vote. The "Bill" got three Republican no votes but the "moderate" Murkowski and the "concerned" Collins, who actually could have affected change, didn't. The "Bill" is much more than a tax cut and Medicaid removal and deficit buster (Republicans keep running on this and their fools go along), it is a big step to the incoming monarchy. And our "normie moderate" Republicans are MAGA, as usual. Please stop with the Murkowski/Collins/Romney crap. Other than Liz Cheney and a few others, who actually believe in Democracy, I don't want to hear it.
