I hope the realization of how unpopular he is kills him a little bit on the inside.

And why the Hell has he not been indicted for these vote buying offenses? Are we just giving him a pass on that, like we did with his security clearance, or that as a federal contractor he should have been disbarred for getting openly involved in the 2024 election?

No wonder these people feel invincible. Our side wilts in the face of pressure.

Watching President Schmusk lose this particular election was awesome. Watching Florida shift, if not actually win, is hopeful. Watching Cory Booker best odious Strom Thurmond’s record was proof that Dems are still alive and capable of kicking ass. More, please!

Musk reminds me of Gaetz in that he thinks much more highly of himself than everyone else around him. Did we see strong support from others in the GQP? Not outside of WI it seemed. The GQP knows that they’ve got trouble. They’re even too scared to show for live town halls and, if they do, parroting what “success” Muskrat has had with DOGE, the crowd becomes apoplectic. These reps do not dare diss tRump. There’s love there for some reason. But, as Musk’s slash and burn campaign is hurting the very core of their base, they know that he has to go. He’s gonna take the bullet for the fuhrer this time and they’re happy to see him go.

This is such a good breakdown of how Elon lost and democracy kicked his ass. It is a glorious thing, and we all deserve to relish it, Bigly. Thanks, Stephen!

And never forget, there's *always* a Musk business angle behind his performative theatre:

I want to point to the wide latitude given to Apartheid Clyde for his blatantly illegal buying votes thing...note that courts have been giving him a pass. There is wide deference to those who serve the unreconstructed, and that's not just in the media but also in the judicial system.

Everyone please keep in mind that even if this scofflaw's actions were found illegal he'd have infinite instant appeals.

Now definitely celebrate the victory but there's big work ahead. Flipping six races in the House gives us at least a *modicum* of a check on the Executive Branch (and I say a modicum because of the "official immunity" gift for criminal Presidents.

Good job, Wisconsin.

Be vigilant and mount up!

I had high hopes that Crawford would prevail, and was not disappointed. The Florida special elections, my hope was that the margin of victory in each would be far less than last November, and was not disappointed. Meanwhile, Senator Cory Booker broke the filibuster record in the Senate, and for a good cause - putting the bakes on Musk's, trump's, and Putin's evil agenda. He broke the old record, held by the racist Strom Thurmond, my former senator, who used the filibuster for a bad cause - stopping the Civil Rights Act. There is hope!

These events have given me hope too. We need more Bookers and less Schumers.

I so love the beautiful symmetry of Cory Booker’s accomplishment. With this, and the Wisconsin win, last night my usual weeping was tears of joy for a change. I’m kind of starting to feel … what is this odd sensation? I think it’s a modicum of … hope.

Yeah I got misty eyed at the clips I saw from Brian Tyler Cohen at the end. Booker talked about just that aspect of how he was there after a racist man tried to prevent that almost 60 years earlier.

"Meanwhile, an attorney for the Republican National Committee demanded that a Crawford-supporting group stop providing ice cream to college students. (It’s still freezing in Wisconsin, so I would’ve gone with soup.)"

Cheeseheads are a different breed. Weather that you or I consider "freezing"—even weather that technically IS freezing—is balmy to the Wisconsin native. These are people who wear shorts to play football on a frozen lake. To offer them ice cream in March is to signal shared tribal allegiance.

Granted our temps in Wales only dipped below freezing a handful of times this winter, the recorded glockenspiel sound of ice cream vans patrolling the neighbourhood could be heard every single day. 🥶🍦🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿😆

Glockenspiel? Man, everything's classier over there. I live in New York, where we get the Mister Softee theme song all spring and summer. This became truly somewhat haunting during the pandemic, when the streets were otherwise preternaturally quiet. It felt postapocalyptic.

When I read that, I realized how disrespectful Musk's obsession with the letter "X" is to Malcolm X, a true American hero.
