To clarify for math nerds who recognize that you can't have over 100 percent, the CBS/YouGov poll showed Harris leading 55 percent to 44 percent among women.

Let’s hope women, minorities and especially the youth show up en masse and sweep TFG AND his republican enablers away in a flood of gigantic proportions.

A total repudiation of the GOP and everything it represents.

It has to happen to drive home the message that women are not chattel. Otherwise this fight will not ever be over. Not by a long shot. We must control the White House AND Congress.

The Orange Felon's "campaign" is mirroring his own collapse...the stench of not only soiled Depends but that of a LOSAH hangs over him like rotting meat. Whoever purports to be overseeing this train-wreck has long since given up trying to control this guy's mouth and directing him to "stick to the issues", he's just going all William-Burroughs stream-of-consciousness idiocies and flights-of-fancy digressions.

Sorry PAB primed for spontaneous self-combustion, with all that tallow reaching ignition point.

Republicans are telling women, in essence, that “freedom is slavery.”

So true! We just started our own West Wing marathon. But UGH the Mandy character is SO awful! I'm also a little shocked at the subtle sexism in the first season that I never noticed before. Leo refers to CJ as being "a good girl". Donna is ditsy blonde. Laurie is a "call girl" and oh no, likes pot! Mrs. Landingham is a scold. The religious lunatic is female. And of course, Mandy is just so many misogynistic stereotypes she was thankfully written out after one season.

Yes, the gender politics on West Wing are fairly regressive. It is often like a 1940s screwball comedy/Capra drama. I have compared the show’s depiction of women and minorities to Deep Space Nine, which ended the year WW debuted

“WOMEN WILL BE HAPPY, HEALTHY, CONFIDENT AND FREE! “

I said it in Wonkette. This reads like a tampon ad.

Every day on LinkedIn someone posts about women losing Roe V Wade and what it means to us. And every goddamn time it’s alway men who step in a comment on how wrong we are.

This says that they are STILL NOT listening to us but preaching and dictating to us. I swear if it weren’t a place for my professional life I would tell every damn one of those men that I’d like to give them all a vasectomy with garden shears.

Every time the subject of abortion comes up, in any and all comment sections I’ve ever seen (including Wonkette, BTW), it’s ALWAYS men who crowd in with their mansplaining and long snarky treatises about what abortion means to them. Always.

This graph should scare the hell out of Republicans. That it isn't is the only thing buoying my spirits that so many white people thing Trump is A-OK.

https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/TnT8j/2/

The graph shows that white people are shrinking as a significant proportion of the electorate. Still too many, but proportionally fewer white folk each election.

Among white people of reproductive age, fewer of them are having children anymore, and of those that do, a large proportion are not having 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦 children. A generation from now...jus' sayin'.

That's why they'll run this country like South Africa if they have to; this is the entire point of the numerous unreconstructed states and their regressive governments. That's why they work so hard to make life awful in these states.

The only constant in elections is change--at one time you could believe the FDR coalition would be dominant forever--working class whites, southerners, white ethnic voters, and even black voters--an electoral force to be reckoned with! But white ethnics by the late '60s became a 50/50 split, southern whites went decisively for Republicans soon after, working class whites steadily drifted away, only black voters moved more towards the Democrats (while the onetime GOP bastion of educated upscale whites moved more to the Dems).

I could see Hispanics going the way of white ethnics, and even the black vote isn't likely to continue voting 9/1 in favor of Democrats. And the white vote isn't necessarily a sure thing for Republicans either.

Shorter GOP outreach to women "Kinder, Küche, Kirche"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinder,_Küche,_Kirche#Third_Reich

It always, 𝘈𝘓𝘞𝘈𝘠𝘚 comes back to the purely fascist leanings of the modern neoConfederate GOP. It's not Trump's doing...remember, he's always been the 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺 not the 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲.

It’s kinda amazing, really. It’s like, wow, you said that out loud. On purpose. In public. Whilst recording devices were present. I’m assuming no diabolical secret agent spiked your Diet Coke with some truth serum. You just gave that up voluntarily, and we can see right into your creepy as fuck thoughts, and, um, holy fuck...

This telling us: not only does he think like this. He doesn’t even have the faintest clue how incredibly fucking creepy it sounds...

I mean, it’s a bit like you just asked someone you don’t know so well at the office water cooler hey how are you and he says mostly okay I guess but the money I’m making from the illegal dogfighting ring is drying up so I’m thinking I might have to get some homeless people in with them too and also I have a genital rash I think I got from the sheep and you start to laugh reeeaallly uncomfortably and then you realize wait that wasn’t even a joke was it and what the fuck is in this water.

I don't get it either, that the economy and immigration are trump's strengths. Actually, the reason is probably because of our crappy legacy media, which is failing us badly by not giving the facts about the economy and immigration, but spouting maga talking points. In spite of that, Harris is making inroads on both issues, probably because Dems are getting their message out about both issues. And that trump is too stupid to talk about either issue may be part of the cause of Harris polling better as well. But I'm not sure that it would help him, as he tends to end up whining about all of his grievances, and turning off even his hardcore fans.

Republicans are always worse for the economy with their tax cuts for the rich and resulting recessions. Then the Dems have to clean up the mess and somehow get blamed for it. It's maddening that most voters are so simpleminded.

Yes this message is meant to bring the faithful to the fold, or at least keep them there. For women who crave the patriarchal structure in their lives, the lives they may have been promised through religious training or deliberate homeschooling socialization, it may be effective. But it is also for his male base. He's telling them THEY won't have to think about abortion anymore, the poor dears. Thinking about it for eight years has tired the poor darlings out! Lucky they haven't had the fight over it thrust into their lives since single digits. If they don't want you to have an abortion they'll start on that right away in your childhood.

And these guys are sooo tired of it!

The rest of the message too. Imagine you are the 26 year old "incel." This message is all for you too.

Lastly, I'm going to go dust off my WW box set! I'm already looking forward to the season without Mandy! Can't stand Mandy but I LOVE Moira Kelly. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
