The Hollow Man: Trump’s Sad Little Masquerade of Manhood

Behind the bluster and red hats lies a brittle brand of masculinity—a hollow charade that cloaks cowardice, denial, and failure.

Love the headline! Love the article more! Darn that history!

The Twilight Zone also did "Deaths-Head Revisited," wherein a former SS officer goes back to the concentration camp he used to run, now a museum, to relive the memories. That one's not about Hitler; it's about our ongoing duty to repudiate him and what he stood for.

Bone chilling.

"You know, Hitler did some good things, too"

Regarding the logical pretzling that the Trump enablers are doing explaining what he actually meant... from Jeff Teidrich:

‘’don’t you love it when the people who say “I support Donny because he says what he means” turn on a dime, and insist that “Donny didn’t mean what he said”?’’

Trump never knew anything about Hitler except the rally scenes.

I have a feeling he knew a few other things and fully supported them

Not that Trump knows this—he didn’t legitimately graduate high school, after all—but what he’s actually referring to is the SS and SA, which Hitler formed specifically to be loyal to him because the actual army wouldn’t swear oaths to him personally. I’m sure once someone explains it to him he’ll think it’s an awesome idea.

I voted this morning - the line moved quickly, as there were plenty of poll workers and voting machines. When I got finished, the line was even longer than when I arrived. Curbside voting is an option, but that one was a longer wait, but for some people, it was worth the wait. I voted for a straight Dem ticket, because I don't vote for fascists or their enablers. Come to think of it, if you enable a fascist, you are a fascist.

trump is so stupid, even if he doesn't believe that any of Hitler's generals tried to kill him, he should know that they lost WWII. Blind loyalty isn't a winner, but that doesn't stop idiots like trump wanting that. I don't care what the polling says, Harris will win handily, and the election will be called on election night; maybe Hawaiian time, but it will be on 11/5/24. As for violence and unrest, it will be minimal, and handled quickly by President Biden. I have faith in most Americans.

Once again proof that Garland is an underpants skidmark on the USA because he could've ended this years ago. If tangeranus is reinstalled it will be be Biden's only remembered legacy, sadly.

Pretty sure there will be a lot more to President Biden’s legacy than Merrick Garland.

You do know 'Mein Kampf' was written while Hitler was in prison after his first coup attempt, right? And that Eugene Debs ran for president from prison? I think you misunderstand how personality cults work. Even if Trump goes to prison we'll never stop hearing from him. He'll be able to send letters, record interviews, hell he could even do a podcast. Stop complaining and get to work.

Good point. I actually hope that trump flees the country when he loses, so that he's someone else's problem. And that might be the only thing to break his hold on most of the magas - his abandoning them.

Ain’t it awful how Donnie has so many low-life lying liars out there always lying about him? Why do all these people who have worked for him and known him for years lie so outrageously? What do THEY know, anyway? hmph.

The phrase “Nazis or whatever”, coming from the mouth of an alleged news-media personality, is stunningly unbelievable. Whoever even thinks in such a way that they could possibly put those words together? I mean, this is light years beyond JD Vance’s bungling a doughnut order by saying “whatever makes sense.” Maybe we are finally living in the Twilight Zone. That would explain a lot.

LOOKIN AT YOU SYRACUSE

But really, folks, that's an excellent monologue.

"Remember it when you hear a name called, a minority attacked, any blind, unreasoning assault on a people or any human being."

We've got work left and a short time to make it happen. Let's do this.

Even the generals who didn't try to kill Hitler ultimately ensured both his demise and that of their country. Many of them questioned his military judgments but ultimately carried out his orders in wasting Luftwaffe pilots on a counterproductive terror bombing campaign against Britain, and the fatal invasion of Russia that led to the ultimate destruction of their army and the dismemberment of Germany itself. Sometimes it's useful to have generals who can give candid advice to their commander in chief, and a commander in chief who has enough brains to heed that advice.

Trump could have admired how FDR's generals carried out his orders--he commanded generals as varied as MacArthur, Marshall, Ike, Patton, Bradley--and they got the job done for him. But Trump chose to emulate Hitler instead.

That this is not a red flag for every American voter is going to be a real stain on this generation.

We really have to just come to grips with the fact that there's a very large number of Americans who like what the Nazis were about. That's why they've signed on to President Klan Robe's campaign of ethnic cleansing. That's why his execrable running mate is there too happily spreading the blood libel.

Even as racist as prior Presidents have been, something like this is utterly unthinkable. And the death cult goes along. The "MSM" won't push too hard to call him unqualified and unAmerican because he is the representative of those who have always had rights in America.

That point bears repeating. Remember, there is wide deference for President Klan Robe because he is the representative of those who have always had rights in America. This allows him to do virtually anything he likes. And that makes it difficult to combat him. We have brave champions on our side who are doing it.

As Kamala Harris herself said whilst post-turtling Bret Baier: "It's not supposed to be easy."

We outnumber the fascists though. We can defeat these unreconstructed retrogrades by staying engaged, making sure to exercise our vote and to keep their champions out of power. And we can drag most of them kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

Let's execute our voting plans and mount up! For America!

Rachel Maddow in the second season of 'Ultra' documents an American attorney who tried to undermine the Nuremberg Trials, including getting the charges against a group of Nazi SS who executed hundreds of American POWs thrown out, all because of his own racism and antisemitism. He thought the Nazis had done nothing wrong.

And this connection goes way back. I believe that the Nazis sent lawyers to the U.S. to study the Jim Crow laws and decided it would be a pretty good model for their anti-Jewish laws, except they thought Jim Crow went a little too far. As Faulkner wrote, ‘The past isn’t dead. It isn’t even past.’

I think these people are ultimately nihilists. They'll use "Nazi" as an epithet to attack liberals (otherwise "Feminazi" would have been a compliment) while they clearly have no problem with a leader who is an obvious Hitler fan boy. I don't think they have any beliefs except that they hate liberals and want to burn things.

The part that scares me is that JD Vance probably also wants Hitlers generals but has the sense to keep it to himself. And we all know if Trump wins JD is gonna 25th Amendment his ass on the way back from the inaugural ball

I wish more people were talking about how he's basically a Trojan horse for JD and all of his billionaire backers to take over the U.S. PAB is not going to last 4 years, and one way or another, it's going to be Vance at some point and that is equally horrifying.

The US has a form of ADHD. We ignore what’s going on around us and focus on the small details of our lives. We don’t listen to the advice of our elders and insist on finding out that, Yes, if you touch the hot stove, you’ll get burnt.
