I am so tired of hearing the “old Joe Biden” nonsense. What electable Democrat was going to step forward and challenge him? Harris is probably less popular than he is ( although competent, so if something happens in a second term we’re gonna be OK) and some of the more popular Senate or House Dems have been pretty busy getting all up into the Jan 6 business and actually passing legislation. So we need to stop having fantasies about someone younger coming along to “save” us less than five months before the election and get behind Biden; and loudly remind everyone of TFG’s age and mental deterioration that makes him an even easier mark for those with personal agendas.

Maybe they are not “very smart people.” Maybe they are political hacks posing as writers and pundits who have been paid off to write their drivel.

Are they very smart? I don’t think so.

Silver claims that “Democrats would have been better served if Biden had decided a year ago not to seek a second term, which would have allowed them to have some semblance of a primary process and give voters a say among the many popular Democrats across the country.”

I've never understood this Silver rant, let's say Dems nominate a younger candidate than Joe Biden, what problem would have solved? Does he believe nominating a younger person would have automatically dropped inflation for example? Regarding popularity: RFK jr is according to polls more popular than Biden and Trump so why is not polling like Ross Perot in '91?

If Allan Lichtman in August predict Joe Biden will win and Joe Biden happens to win, then maybe would be time everybody stop listening stochastic pundits and start to listen people more competent than them.

Instead of SCOTUS adjudicating Trumps immunity, why adjudicate why a legal insurrectioniat ( Colorado ruling), can ignore this and run, run , run baby, run.

Biden and Harris weren't the top of my list, either. I liked Buttigieg and Warren. But I was glad to vote for Joe and Kamala, as I would been to vote for Beto, or Amy, or almost any of them (I had deep reservations about Bernie Sanders and Mike Bloomberg).

And the upshot? Biden has vastly exceeded my expectations as President, and while the role of Vice President is always a pretty lackluster one, I feel that Harris has also overperformed.

Nodding very vigorously to every word of this. I'm sorry so many in the media didn't fully grasp the passage of time back in 2019/2020, but successful one term presidents just don't step aside (neither do unsuccessful ones, but that's not relevant here). They just don't. And I'm not a Washington insider, just someone paying attention.

Do we all wish Biden was 20 years younger? Of course.

Could any other Democrat beat Trump? Unlikely.

I think Joe would not have run for a second term if Trump had accepted his defeat and gone away.
