The truth is often repulsive. Why does it require fascists to understand the threat of Islam ?

They threaten not to vote for Biden to teach us infidels a lesson. Where are their loyalties anyway ? America or Palestine. Biden did exactly the right thing in standing strong against Islamic terrorism. Israel is our ally.

It's really horrifying to see this kind of naked instigation published in mainstream media. I can't say WSJ surprises me. I can't even say Tom Friedman's open racism surprises me, anymore.

Some of the most grotesque evil in the world right now is being egged on by American billionaires. Oh, yes; Friedman is one of those, too, by marriage.

It's been since his marriage that he became a monster. He was a good reporter, and a seemingly OK person backnin his Beirut days.

I remember exactly when I realized the evil of Friedman's banality. I read a column in which he claimed China was becoming a modern nation due to its embrace of capitalism. He realized this based on his experience staying at a Westerners-only hotelnin Beijing in the early '90s, and his room-service glass of orange juice was terrible.

But when he went back, in the early 2000s, his room-service glass of orange was fresh-squeezed and quite lovely.

I thought, "Fuck, I paid a buck for this copy of NYT."

I should add that Dearborn is a nice city. Amazing middle eastern foods. Hamtramck was also recently disparaged by the media. Their policies are somewhat iffy, but again, some great eats and a very diverse demographic.

The dehumanization is thick and rancid.

Something you pointed out in this is something I've long felt is an indication of the privileged people the WSJ and other media outlets work for. Isn't it interesting how acceptable it is to shit on predominately majority-minority cities (or at least Democratic) and states?

Imagine the hew and cry if Democratic politicians and media figures decided to just constantly crap on, say, Idaho or Nebraska, or talk disparagingly about "Oklahoma values?" Huntington (West Virginia) values?

It makes me sick.

I’ve read enough articles about MAGA supporters to come to the conclusion that empathy isn’t deserved. If you choose to be willfully ignorant, that’s on you. The WSJ perpetuating stereotypes seems on brand.

The “fuck your feelings” crowd should understand that this works both ways.

I'm reserving judgement until we hear from Friedman's next barista and Uber driver.

Honestly, I expect no better from Freidman, he of the 'Freidman Unit' and 'Suck On This' cheerleading (from the safe sidelines, of course) for the Iraq Debacle, but declaring these people 'insects' is pretty standard fascist dehumanization shit. He should ask fellow NYT Editorial staff Brett Stephens about that kind of rhetoric.

The hypocrisy and self-righteousness of the WSJ knows almost no bounds...once again, we are headed down the Weimar path of "well, we know he's a wannabe authoritarian, but, gee, everyone else is SO bad and he made the economy hum and the trains run on time" (yeah, I know I'm confusing my fascists...). Except that the economy is by many measures better now, Donald Trump had jack and shit to do with the trains, and the editors at the WSJ have rubbed their hands together watching their 401Ks grow for the last three years and now want someone to slash taxes for the rich AGAIN to make cashing out less painful. And ANYTHING they can use to paint the other side as "others" is fair game.

But the thing that winds me up every time is, as you show, the deference we have to show for the one minority that we can never criticize. As a "white cis Christian male," even I am thoroughly sick of being expected to show a little sympathy for other cis white Christians with enhanced credulity and severely limited critical thinking skills. It must be exhausting for everyone else.

"Most Republicans still falsely believe Trump’s stolen election claims. Here are some reasons why." Reasons? They missed the most obvious--they're just not that smart.

Those are the stakes this election--one side wants to paint Muslims as terrorists, even multigenerational American Muslims, and supports a candidate who has called for not just banning more from coming to this country but throwing out the ones who are already here.

On the other side we have a president who, perhaps unwisely, has let his support for Israel bind him publicly to Israel's incompetent and cruel leadership, which is right now killing a lot of Arab civilians while trying to root out a terror group. I can see why American Muslims aren't thrilled with these choices, simply from a "what is best for Muslims worldwide" POV, but the former choice is far more frightening than the latter.

The fact that its reporting side still has some legitimacy insulates editorial somewhat.
