Proof as to why Batman: The Animated Series remains the best superhero series yet. I don't know if you are reading the current Batman comics, but they are picking up these very threads from the show and reflecting the current political of the world- one in which supervillain Vandal Savage is the Police Commissioner and sending all his political opponents to a supermax prison, Poison Ivy is the Mayor, Jim Gordon is demoted to beat cop, Gotham is currently in the grips of an ecological disaster, and the Bat family are declared outlaws. Good stuff!
The interesting thing about Batman, specifically this show was that Batman's villains ran the gamut from ordinary greedy thugs (mob bosses and CEOs) to tragic victims (Mr. Freeze, Two-Face, Harley Quinn) to people willing to cross lines for what they see as the greater good (Poison Ivy, early Catwoman) to cruel sadists (Scarecrow, Joker).
Kind of like life.
My favorite villain with a cause, I think is Magneto though. Because he really is the part of us that looks at the horrors of the world every day, the intolerance, hatred, violence, cruelty, wanton greed and destruction, and push back against the ability of some people to live peacefully and just wants to respond with the same. Do unto them before they do unto us. And he is both tragically right and wrong like his friend and constant foil Xavier.
Evil will always exist and it must be opposed constantly, but it isn't always solved by words and civility nor does it always require violence and domination.

Yes, thanks, I’ve been enjoying it!

Given what's happening now I don't think we could ever call any comic book supervillain unrealistic!
"When"? More like "While".
Don't tell me Enlo Musk and Pete "Little Adolf" Thiel aren't Bond villains.
Bond villains mixed with Captain Planet villain-esque pointless cruelty.
You're calling the Clooney nippled Batman a disator? Come on, that was great fun! Stacked cast and all the camp in the world! Why so serious?
