"every time it comes around, Democrats are telling people of color or women, there's only one choice. But the white guys who vote for Republicans in suburban areas, we’re not going to actually call them racist or fascist. We’re actually going to try to reason with them on these issues."
White people have choices, we need to persuade white people. It kind of gives the game away about the society you're in when this is your view.
I really need to know what the word for a particular phenomenon that comes up all the time in discussing politics (in particular) is- a belief someone holds so fundamentally as to not even recognise that they do, much less to ever question it. Something that so shapes their view of the world it becomes invisible in itself- in this case, it's the belief that basically white people are afforded the ability to choose, because of the related deep seated belief that they will basically be ok whatever happens. Whatever risk they have is understood to be less than that for People of Colour, and somehow, strangely, this is confused with them being "rational" and "dispassionate" about issues that could influence others' votes.
Or maybe it's open cynicism- we know white voters will be mostly ok with whichever outcome, so let's get them onside. Reminding them of the damage this one outcome will cause is depressing, and maybe insulting to them, so don't bring it up.
I can't like or comment on substance yet because I am just now starting to listen.
That said... this weekend I was listening to pt1 of this and the moment your intro music came on my BFF & housemate said, "Oh, what's on PlayTyperGuy?"
So, yeah. Your music is working. I didn't even realize that I was playing your podcasts while she was around (or at least I didn't realize she was around that often), but it was clearly enough.
Um…..the Republic fell in Nov ‘63. Where you been, Citizen?
Not just we can’t bother watching Fox news, we can’t stand watching it. The lies are too much.

I am mostly just brain vomiting here. Apologies.
Um….the narrative. Not the dynamic. Choice is an illusion. They are the same. Leveraged by the same planet raping corporate interests.

Okay, more in 45 min.
That’s so nice to hear!
