"When a mob has you surrounded, or the cops are itching for an excuse to whip heads and bust you on felony charges, one person ‘doing his own thing’ can get a lot of folk hurt."
I am definitely going to spend some time thinking about this.
“King wrote, ‘The nonviolent resister not only refuses to shoot his opponent but he also refuses to hate him.’
I am not surprised that I still have so much to learn from Dr King.
How can I love the officers of a regime that is causing the deaths of so many innocents?
I appreciate Bad Bunny’s quote from the Grammys as a corollary to Dr Kings wisdom, "The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that's more powerful than hate is love, so, please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We don't hate them, we love our people, and we love our family. And that's the way to do it, with love.”
I think BB’s take was that the inspiration for action be love for one’s own rather than hatred of the enemy. That is aspirational, but you’re not wrong.
I think that more people are willing to stand up to save their neighbors because we finally see their humanity. These are people who would not usually say anything and just be glad that they aren’t the oppressed. But they also know that this regime will eventually oppress everyone if we don’t not stand up for those other someone’s.
Safety in numbers.
I will also tell you something else. Heard (will not get too detailed) of a liberal professor who is married to a 10 year ICE agent. He can’t get out and he can’t believe the direction the agency has turned. So his quiet resistance is to tip her off to upcoming events to share with her network and warn them.
Where there is one worm inside the apple, there’s more. Let’s hope that these quiet people bring about a slow death from within.
Yeah. Good odds any tips that get passed on are used to track resistance. Anyone whose been in ICE for a decade left their humanity behind a long ass time ago.
While Brown was unfortunately right about ending slavery in America, I hope that ending the trump regime won't have to take the same route. Yes, there has been violence already, but all on their side. It's hard to keep turning cheeks...
I don't think we can get out of this without blood. It's only a matter of time before either,
A: ICE finally assaults someone who actually does fight back violently, in which case miller creams his jeans, the insurrection act is invoked and ICE goes weapons free or,
B: things continue as they are with semi-regular murders until the midterms or maybe 28, when trump & co lose all semblance of patience and make up a justification for ordering ICE to go weapons free.
These bastards aren't going to leave MN willingly. If by some magic we have a proper election in 28 and a Democrat gets in, ICE is just going to ignore any orders they're given and take out their frustrations on the people here.
Jesus Ochoa, a border patrol agent, and Raymundo Gutierrez, an officer with Customs and Border Protection.
Records reportedly show that Ochoa joined CBP in 2018 as a border patrol agent, while Gutierrez began working for the agency in 2014. Gutierrez serves in CBP’s office of field operations and is part of a special response team that handles high-risk missions similar to those carried out by police Swat units. Both men are from south Texas.
I still don’t understand how they think this is ok. There’s no question that they have family on the other side of the border. But then some Jews gave into the Nazis as well.
Yeah. The main reason we haven't seen any more murders yet is because the bulk of ICE and Republicans nationwide are only just now coming out of post nut fugue after beating their collective meat to the snuff film double feature to come out of Minneapolis.
Yes, and they have been with ICE for years, so can't cite lack of training. It seems that escalation and violently attacking protesters has always been the ICE way.
One of my signs from the last "No Kings" rally.

Thanks a lot, George!
Spot on! Love it!
Thanks for this.

I hadn't heard the quote from Mr Bunny. A good one.
I've always loved the Robert Hunter lyric "If you plant ice you're going to harvest wind."
Reminds me of that.
Eh. Hating Nazis is a perfectly valid response. Trying to deny that is only going to let it fester.
I think BB’s take was that the inspiration for action be love for one’s own rather than hatred of the enemy. That is aspirational, but you’re not wrong.
Well we know that we have to resist peacefully, especially since there's millions of Americans who bay for the blood of progressives.
Those are the tactical rules before us. But we mustn't give up the ship!
I feel like I need some of that training.

Well, he can get out, but it would disrupt his financial plan, right?
This is why it is those with nothing to lose act as if they have nothing to lose.
If this agent were smart and serious about being a mole, we would know nothing about it.

The choice before us is clear - to live as free Americans or as Republican slaves.

Actually, ProPublica released the names of the agents yesterday.

So both hispanic from Texas and been on the job many years. Have they all been told to just wild out? Bonus for cracking skulls?
Every group has quislings. Ideally they can be prosecuted now that their names are known.
This.

Sounds like you understand it pretty well
I suspect most are thrilled to be let off the leash.

Tell me more about the Bolshevist Anarchists, for I can find none in any academic works.
Because they don't exist.
"Bolshevist anarchists"? Seriously?
Go play with the rest of the Christofascists, Ellen. The adults are having a conversation.
