Square Pegs was canceled because it was too cool and the normies didn't get it. It had Devo on one episode! (The same episode featuring the bar mitzvah band "Moe Spengler and his Band of Renown," a joke that still makes me giggle.)
My roommate and I were in our matching recliners (just like Joey and Chandler almost 15 years later!) waiting for that channel to go from snow to the countdown. We felt like we were experiencing history!
My roomie Linda and I (she would be a Linda 1962, though 😉) only got to watch it if we weren't working day shifts, but with soaps you can usualy miss a few days and not miss much. We loved the "never stayed dead" Stefano DiMera but decided things got too silly when Marlena turned into a zombie or some shit, lol!
Holy cow...I was trying to figure out exactly when Doug and Julie got together and it turned into a "which time!?" I went to Wikipedia and read Julie's entire storyline and now I have to lie down for awhile, ha ha!
Ohhh I want the Hallmark Christmas Wrapping movie!
Christmas Wrapping is my favorite holiday song. Probably helps that it came out in my senior year of college, so it’s both endearing and nostalgic.

I had the Waitresses' "Bruiseology" album. "Uh oh -- there I go -- thinking about sex again" is a line that still lives rent-free in my head.
Lotta great stuff this week!
Thanks for this, Stephen! Back in the day, I used to sing this song to my late husband to be silly and watch him roll his eyes.
PS — now I’ll have this song in my head all day. 😑
“But you were always a good man of business, Jacob," faltered Scrooge...
"𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀!," 𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁, 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻. "𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗗 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀! 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀! 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘆, 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀!”

Does "I Know What Boys Like" qualify as an underground hit if my roommate and I loved the song in 1981, thanks to the newly-launched MTV?
Btw, I DO know what boys like...boys. like. me. 😉
Since MTV was newly launched (I remember the countdown to that launch), it counts as an underground hit.

We did experience history! I was at home on the sofa, waiting. How neat that you and your roommate predated Joey and Chandler like that!
And instead of "Baywatch" it was "Days of Our Lives," ha ha!
That was my Grandma's soap. She lived long enough to see Doug and Julie get together!

OMG, 𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 Joey connection!
