I am canvassing for Tina, talking to voters. It's a good way to process my anxiety and do something. I stick with my favorite points about her: gun safety and protecting the vote.
Being an Oregonian liberal, I have been watching this race with a bit of trepidation. Drazen keeps saying she can “fix it”, but I want to know how she intends to do so. Ship the Portland homeless out of state somehow? Build more homes without increasing infrastructure ($$)? Keep the schools open with less students? Maybe consider decreasing the minimum wage back to Republican levels! Show your work, Christine. Talk is cheap.
I have to say, if you are a Democratic governor in a bright blue state who is fending off MAGA-adjacent challengers in 2026, it seems likely you haven't done a great job.
This is why I never say anything is certain when it comes to Democrats, because people need an *excuse*...any tiny one will do...to vote for Republicans and be able to wild out with their bigotries and/or greed. Remember that one of the major animating factors in why we don't have nice things in America is that those nice things would become available to Black people! And of course, people like Drazan can benefit from a rightwing media human centipede that can lie on her behalf.
So people should ignore the polls and go and vote for Kotek and the rest of the Democrats. And let's see what happens. Of course make sure you do it as early as possible and use official dropboxes; don't rely on the USPS especially close to Election Day.
