If North Carolina elects him, I guess they deserve him. I mean, he is appalling. How can he even be the Republican’s choice???

Not sure if this gift link will work for all, but just in case, here is the latest from the great Alexandra Petri writing about Tim Walz and his recently uncovered postings as DarthTater on the website HotOrNotDish.com.

I want to point out that watching trans porn and hating on trans women are consistent, at least for someone like him. It’s perverse in his mind (he called himself a perv). He doesn’t see a trans woman as a person worthy of respect and love.

Nothing about this report is surprising. He’s a gross, racist, mentally damaged sack of crap, not too unlike the MAGA stars

Crip Dyke just did a piece for Wonkette on that exact point, after MSM whiffed it as usual.

“It’s not like duck season or rabbit season”. Am I the only one who read this in Elmer Fudd’s voice? Great article Stephen. I’ve read several articles today and there isn’t enough brain bleach to cleanse my mind. Maybe a cootie shot is in order.

Fantastic article about a terrible person.

This is what happens when you're an unreconstructed party and know you don't have to actually appeal to voters to win. All you have to do is keep the minorities oppressed and you get to sing "Good Ship Lollipop," dancing off to the sunset.

They know they have the rightwing media human centipede, they have captive courts, and they have plenty of credulous voters.

However we have numbers and if we turn out and vote, strange things can happen.

And frankly this out of line shit about Robinson isn't even out of character. And of course he's a pastor. Why wouldn't he be? It's just like the Duggars. All pious in the streets, weirdass creep in the sheets.

They try to pass this off as a "smear", but none of what he said is different from what many conservatives say on talk radio or the internet or social media. None of what he's done is all that different from what they do in private either.

Based on my history in the white Evangelical world, I would bet that at least 70% of the clientele with him in those porn shops were conservative, Republican, married, church going men.

The highest porn usage per capita is in the "Bible Belt" and has been in years. You can't help but wonder if part of the reason they sniff around in our bedrooms so much is for prurient interests.

I was looking forward to your coverage of this story, and it did not disappoint.

I do have one small area of disagreement, however. It's focussed on this:

"Despite his public contempt for trans women, he privately enjoys pornography featuring trans women."

The framing here -- which is similar to but milder than the framing in the original CNN story which was much more clear in framing this as hypocrisy -- relies on the assumption that enjoying pornography with trans women actors is the same as respecting trans women. Otherwise, there's no contradiction.

Consider this: Not everyone who watches porn featuring cis women is a misogynist, but it would be silly to cite someone's porn consumption as proof that they're a feminist in good standing. Import this into the trans context and contrasting private porn consumption with public anti-trans politics relies on assuming that watching trans actors in porn is proof of one's trans-positive nature. Otherwise there's no contradiction.

I don't think he sees trans actors through loving eyes, so this particular contrast seems false.

He is one those chasers who are why there are racial categories on porn sites. He totally believes in Rudyard Kipling-style sexual stereotypes of different races and ethnicities, definitely.

Also this is very much like those Klan members that have a fetish for Black women.

I agree. I should've expanded the thought to clarify that I'm referring to his overall social conservative position, which should technically find the very act repulsive.

I do think there's a difference between misogynists and, say, homophobes. Misogynists hate women but are usually upfront about finding them sexually attractive. It's even usually part of their public rhetoric. Most homophobes however would resent the implication that they would be aroused by gay porn. Ben Shapiro would probably admit that he finds Taylor Swift attractive even if he doesn't respect her. He would never admit on any level that he finds Hari Nef attractive.

Of course he’s not going to drop out. Having seen how little ramifications there are for heinous speech why would he? These crazies totally believe that nothing can touch them due to overwhelming evidence in the past.

I think the GQP knowing how toxic he id is trying to get rid of him. I wonder who dug up all the dirt.

Funny thing. When presented with the upcoming “scandal” he claimed his opposition was behind it and would make up anything to discredit him. Sadly, the internet is forever and he put his name in his profile-years ago. That’s pretty hard to push back on.

How are they gonna do that? Inspect bathroom goers' genitals before they are allowed to take care of their own business? Or show their birth certificates? Or both? Any of those are impractical and violate peoples' privacy. The "protect our women" people like Mark Robinson are perverts. He's the peeping Tom, not transwomen just wanting to use the bathroom and minding their business. Perverts do not mind their own damn business, and they are the ones who are dangerous.

it's been spelled out so many times but (coincidence?) doesn't make it into sound-bite news coverage (or anything substantially/deservedly platformed that I've come across):

anti-trans socialization --> incorrigibly and inevitably backfires on anyone cis_____ who doesn't tick all stereotype-phenotype boxes. it's a ridiculous, senseless, soulless mess *even if* we grant them an iota of credibility for argument's sake.

And the stories of masculine presenting women being harassed and humiliated are legion.

Having had a trans friend I can assure you, the bathroom is the scariest place for them. She simply would not use a multi-stalled bathroom out of fear and would hold it.

“The smarter money is on North Carolina Republicans and even the Trump campaign trying to rid themselves of a pro-Nazi anchor.” Hmm, I’d venture to say the anchor matches the ship, but I digress.

Robinson’s opponent is also Jewish so, God willin’ and the creek don’t rise, Robinson loses this NC election for both himself and the convicted felon, I’m sure the latter will blame the Jews. Especially as part of an, again, God willing, overall election loss. He’s been doing a lot of that lately so watch out for all the fun and fallout in November.

I’m more curious about banal weirdos like Mike Johnson. How do they reconcile all their God-bothering with the venal sinners they consistently endorse? Is it the blatant hypocrisy? I bet it’s the blatant hypocrisy.

What is it with these weird guys named Robinson? The AP style for one is ‘Play Typer Guy.’ Kidding!

Black 'nazi.' Ashley Madison. Watching women in showers. Spank-banking over the trans despite saying they should be arrested for using women's restrooms. Abortion for the wife, despite working to criminalize it. What is the appropriate analogy for hypocrite Mark Robinson? Russian nesting doll? Multi-layer cake at a lewd bachelor party? Or a perverted onion???
