Those folks didn't have security. Didn't have multiple officers sworn to take a bullet for them. They were parents, kids, grandparents, grandkids, siblings, spouses. National media hasn't spent three days now talking about them. They'd run out of air time if they did. Most pastors don't speak of them either. Don't talk about the blasphemy of people destroying the image of God with guns.
I haven't talked much about it lately either because I'm numb. When you scream and no one responds, you shut down. You realize you can't change things. Voting doesn't seem to help, but I keep doing it.
But honestly, WHAT DID YOU FUCKING EXPECT? WHAT DID YOU IN THE MEDIA AND YOU CONSERVATIVES BELIEVE WAS GOING TO HAPPEN? Your economics of cruel capitalism without dignity has alienated people. My objection to political violence is 100% an objection to its 'practicality'. I have no moral objection to it at this point. We don't currently live in the political or psychological space to do ANYTHING about this nightmare. My HOPE is that once we can get the faintest glimmer of a future worth living in, all of the record keeping from these years (which SER is part of) will become the springboard for action...We're keeping a tally. boy fucking howdy are we ever. Mama was horrified - she remembered FDR's death, but he died of natural causes. She wasn't eligible to vote until 1960, because 21 was the earliest voting age then, and JFK got her first vote. She was 24 and pregnant with me. Does this make JFK my first vote? I still say Jimmy Carter got my first vote in 1980, because I was registered to vote and actually cast the vote. By then, of course, the voting age had been lowered to 18.
