Ugh. I think maybe I once watched that Ten of us show. Now I have that PLUS Fet and Manchin. Thanks, STEPHEN! 😀
Seriously, though. You mention Joe Walsh. Has he written a book? I’d like to know how he took his brain back. He lays out the argument succinctly.
I plan to read Harris’ book. She’s class personified; allegedly the Biden folks are threatening to compare her to Sarah Palin if she steps out of line? You hate to see that.
“You loved John Fetterman on Leno! This fall, on NBC, he’s Unfettered!” (LMAO). Also, re. McManchin's book: "maverick," "common sense," etc. You know: when powerful (usually) white men and their allies wanna sound superheroish.
I just don’t have the appetite to read any politician’s book. It’s one thing if the pol is also a professional writer, but otherwise these tend to be boring and predictable and “safe”—they never want to burn their bridges or really go on a limb so the book is generally boring by design.
And politics is just too depressing to read what these people have to say. Harris unfortunately lost, and in part it was due to an over cautious strategy. Fetterman is just an asshole, and nothing he has to say is worth anyone’s time. Fuck that lurch motherfucker.
And Schumer, Jeffries—ugh. Just snore.
Though if someone does write a book that breaks the mold—one where they come out and literally call Republicans fascist child molesters or something—that might be worth a look.
I am far more likely to read Harris' book than Fetterman's or Manchin's books, but I probably won't. It's too depressing, because I know the ending, at least the ending for Harris' campaign. We are still dealing with the aftermath - that traitorous, rapist asshole's second term, which is worse than his first term.
So there are only two options on Fetterman that I can see:
1) He was a huge asshole even before he got into the Senate and somehow managed to hide it through a manipulated marketing image, or...
2) The stroke severely scrambled his circuits (not uncommon, by the way), and he needs physical and emotional therapy, but NOT an ongoing role in the Senate, while he figures it out.
Fetterman has been a huge disappointment. He was the only white man I gave to for his campaign. I cannot help but think that he has truly been mentally altered by not taking care of himself after his illness. I just don’t get how he turned so quickly into such an asshole.
I’ve pre-ordered Harris’s book, as well as Karin Jean-Pierre’s, which I think is coming out in October or November. Going to probably pick through them like a medical examiner doing an autopsy on mainline Democratic Partying.
I wonder about the marketability of a book written by either John Fetterman or Joe Manchin. Who really even remembers who Joe Manchin is/was at this point? And of those who do, how many would want to read his memoir? I understand that certain publishers arrange for bulk book sales to boost their numbers, but really, what’s the point?
Fetterman I guess still thinks he has a “Mavericks” Fan Club out there, but again, even if he does, how many of them buy and read books? OTOH, Kamala has the bona fides to warrant keen interest in her story. And like with Hillary post-2016, I’m eager to read all about it, because she, unlike these two self-serving, do-nothing white guys, was right there at the top of the fight.
I understand it as a market of 1: the authors themselves. They want to see themselves as noble as well as nobility-- morally superior and politically powerful. The total immersion of retelling the story so the authors can put on capes and step on pedestals, courtesy of their ghost writers, is what these "tell all" books are for.
I wonder about the profitability. Who else benefits, and how?
How long it will be before AI is conscripted to wrote entire history books to lie to children and adults in the future?
What happens if every PAC can create its own publishing arm in a country where Texas already had great influence over what textbooks are chosen...oh, wait... since the Department of Education got attacked, maybe this problem goes away...my head hurts.
Back to the OP. If the outcomes of their careers were so good, they wouldn't need a book to explain and excuse themselves.

Yeah, I fear that Harris will have to spin a narrative that prioritizes defending Biden, which won’t help her with average American voters.

Who the fuck cares about Joe Manchin besides Joe Manchin?
lol
I was wondering what might make me want to read the Manchin book even less, then I got to "Forward by Nick Saban."

If she writes like she campaigned, it’ll be overly cautious and boring.

Either way, he's gotta go.

Well if I need a doorstop...I can get Fetterman or Manchin's b—oh wait, a paver is cheaper and more useful, never mind!

PA should look forward to being UnFettermanned.

Kyrsten Sinema in a hoodie.
Pithy, witty, fits on a bumper sticker or a button, and should be a tagline for Fetterman, going forward.
