While the DSA is busy bitching about socialist democrats, Fetterman is actually acting like a republican. He’s a problem and has become so repellent that there is no way he will be re-elected. He’s can change parties all he likes but he’ll be out of the game soon. Good riddance.
That being said, I WOULD it when people like Pete acknowledge these disagreements if they would actually SAY what it is about the DSA positions they disagree with...Its KINDA like he's trying to be magnanimous and incisive while STILL putting some distance between him and these 'to the left' views.
I would just REALLY like to know SPEICOCALLY what it is they object to because I can't find anything TO object to EVEN IF you are a more moderate dem...The DSA policies feel like they should be the bog standard for the democratic platform writ large
"“I support universal healthcare,” Polis has claimed. “I support a strong social safety net. The only way to accomplish those — and history has proven this — is through capitalism and the free-market system [and] the clarity that it creates.”
If I was super wealthy, I'd fund a vetting company made up of journalists who lost their jobs at the WaPo and NYT when those institutions chose to be whitewashing water carriers for the fascist right...
There was a DSA person on Fox or something like it the other day. They advocated for abolishing the police, open borders and getting rid of the Senate, among all the other things like medicare for all, free education and taxing the rich. Don't threaten me with a good time, I say! Of course, tons of people lost their minds.
Its funny to see centrists freaking out over this...Like do they REALLY think that whatever few DSA candidates actually end up in congress are going to be able to do these things?
Me? I see them as a 'long term wish list', a wish list that wouldn't be 'implementable' until society was ready for it...But youn need to get in early to grow a caucus...Its Like coming into congress in 1830 with an abolitionist agenda. It wasn't going to be feasible until a war was fought over it so there was no chance that the handful of abolitionists in congress were going to END it in 1830
A number of those sound good, though do not discount the use of sensationalized fears of crime and how conservatives can utilize such fears to great effect. This is something I have said is also a challenge for Zohran Mamdani, and thankfully, never happened (someone doing something sensational on the subway.)
Yeah, the crime narrative always seems to work on cons (and some fucking dems) even when crime is historically down. We need to outsource much of what cops do to other agencies and explain it clearly that an armed, militarized force does not need to show up for a shoplifter or a person in mental crisis.
So-called center-left Democrats seem like Republican light. If they really were center-left, or even just center, they would agree with DSA candidates on some issues, and would praise them for that. They would be warning against the fascists that have taken over the Republican Party, not against Dems who want Medicare for All, and for ALL Americans to have affordable housing.
I was talking with a friend at the pub last night and Fetterman's name came up. He said, "I thought he was a Democrat?" and I replied, "So did everyone who voted for him."
Um, no, Jared Polis, by definition you cannot use capitalism and the free market to create and sustain a strong social safety net. 🤦 FFS

What a summer child i am!

Fucking liar
Then WHY IS IT STILL FUCKING BROKEN?
Trickle down on THIS motherfucker
Capitalism is diametrically opposed to a strong social safety net, what an asshole.
I don't understand why this 'flipper' is holding on to the Dem Party for?
Sinema in a hoodie.
There's always one, going back to Lieberman or most likely further. And when Fetterman goes, it will be some other asshole. Weird how that works out.
It ALMOST feels like a conspiracy (tho I know it isn't)
Maybe we should take EVERY candidate that runs as a democrat aside for a little chat, regardless of how much we like them or not and give a little tap
"If you turn on us, we will burn your house to the ground with you in it. DO YOU FUCKING UNDERSTAND?
The Democratic Party actually vetting its "candidates" would be a nice start.

yup!

And former U.S. intelligence officers.
LOL moral clarity.
But he knew the secret to success...Say The Pretty Words What Democrats Like. And then you're in like Flynn!
