The SUPERMAJORITY PLAN TO IMPEACH TRUMP and HIS ADMINISTRATION
It will take 292 house and 67 senate votes to obtain a supermajority vote. This is the key to accomplishing anything in the house or senate. The house and senate will be able to impeach Trump and his administration for their crimes and corruption.
The Democrats are the only ones that will stand against Trump. We have to vote out as many republicans as possible.
EVERYONE IS GOING TO HAVE TO VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS IN THE NOVEMBER 3RD MIDTERM ELECTIONS TO MAKE THIS WORK
Make sure you share this with everyone you know without social media. People without social media are unaware how corrupt and detrimental Trump’s administration really is for our country. The media outlets do not post anything negative about Trump. Some people don’t even know what the midterm elections are or how important they are.
TRUMP, HIS ADMINISTRATION, HIS BILLIONAIRE PEDOPHILE NETWORK , AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ARE MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE WORKING CLASS TO SURVIVE.
I'm a little younger than your dad (so his generation) and resonated with your statement that "Black people from Jackson and my father’s generations have endured horrors but nonetheless view the world through a hopeful lens." That hopefulness seems to be hard-wired in us.
Also my SIL wondered if this regime will lower the flags for JJ like they did Kirk. Sadly they most likely will not further confirming that they hate Black people.
Rest in power. I listened to his call and response to kids saying I Am Somebody and it was a great reminder of what GREAT leadership is and could have been.
Beautiful tribute and moving personal remembrance of Jesse Jackson, Stephen. He in particular seemed quite adept at getting under white people’s skin, IIRC from my childhood, I think in part because his unabashed proclamations that “Black is Beautiful” and “I Am … Somebody” shocked the white conscience, and made us think more critically. Those outrageous, full-throated declarations from a young Black man who was perhaps a cross between Malcolm X and MLKJr. changed the way that (at least some) white folks saw Blacks, not as the Other to be feared and despised, as we’d been taught, but as fellow humans who deserved recognition, and respect. Thank you for this.
It's a very good history lesson and a great tribute. I still remember the remains of an Operation PUSH office in my hometown when I was a kid. I forgot exactly where it was. And a lot of people stand on his shoulders.
I had the honor and privilege of attending one of Jesse Jackson’s campaign event in Mendocino, CA in 1987. He was introduced by author Alice Walker. It was a sunny/foggy/rainy day, as it often was on an expanse of coastal headlands. It was, and is, an incredibly beautiful place. As a child of the Deep South, as was Jesse Jackson, though separated by the realities of the racism and discrimination that he suffered.
I remember being in a car stuck listening to rush Limbaugh rant and rail about jackson, and the utter loathing my parents have for him. That was when I first noticed how venomously cruel they could get politically. It's also one of the things that ended up making me split with my family in that vein.
Rest well, Mr. Jackson, loyal and faithful servant to humanity. I remember Mr. Jackson mainly from his working with Harold Washington in Mr. Washington's quest to become Chicago's mayor. \My spouse and I lived in Hyde Park, Chicago, from 1979 to 1986. We had a front row seat for the mayoral campaign, the racist white council members who stood against him, and the ensuing "Council Wars."
"Council Wars" was named after a radio performance by Aaron Freeman, with Mr. Washington as "Luke Skytalker," the lead white council member "Lord Darth Vrdolyak", and Jesse Jackson as the fast-talking comrade of Mr. Washington, "Jesse Jack Solo." Of course, the paralysis of city government wasn't amusing; the city suffered. Many North Siders believed (rich white areas) that Mr. Washington would build projects in their tony neighborhoods. The main success of this unnecessary turmoil was a judge ruling that the Chicago Alderman map was a racist gerrymander. President Obama moved to Chicago during the "Council Wars," coming to the South Side in 1985.
Thank you Jesse Jackson. We will try to "𝐾𝑒𝑒𝑝 ℎ𝑜𝑝𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑒. 𝐾𝑒𝑒𝑝 ℎ𝑜𝑝𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑒. 𝐾𝑒𝑒𝑝 ℎ𝑜𝑝𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑒. 𝑂𝑛 𝑡𝑜𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑟𝑜𝑤 𝑛𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑏𝑒𝑦𝑜𝑛𝑑, 𝑘𝑒𝑒𝑝 ℎ𝑜𝑝𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑒!" even though you have been called home. Good will prevail over evil.

WE HAVE TO STOP THEM FROM DESTROYING THE COUNTRY
Wonderful write up. RIP Reverend.

Thanks for a marvelous essay!

Godspeed you great man.
Beautiful tribute and moving personal remembrance of Jesse Jackson, Stephen. I was deeply moved and inspired by his message.
Rest In Power, Jesse.

I totally hear you on that.
This was fantastic. Thank you, Stephen.
Thanks!

FYI - Harold Washington was our neighbor (we lived in UofC housing; Mr. Washington lived in a nearby 1920s apartment building). We never met him, but he was as obsessed as we were about the monk parakeets who lived in a tree on 55th St -https://www.chicagomag.com/city-life/march-2013/in-hyde-park-the-parakeets-abide/.
