I do like him. He came through on every important vote. If asked, Joe Biden would cheerfully acknowledge that a lot of his bipartisan victories were saved by Manchin.
That he’s personally a corporate-owned millionaire wh*re is not relevant to whether one appreciates the part he played as a senator. He walked a tightrope in WV that would have been the end of a less seasoned politician. Unless you were planning to date the guy, who cares about his personality?
There won’t be another Democratic senator from WV in my lifetime. As @Jonathan V. Last says, enjoy Senator Cletus von Ivermectin.
Um….clearly plenty of people do like him. Winning several statewide elections as a member of the political party which never otherwise wins in that state is pretty strong evidence. Seems unremarkable for him to think so.
Even if we grant the vacuous premise that people “want Washington to get stuff done,”* why would someone whose priority is for “Washington to get stuff done” want Joe Manchin? For all his blathering, what’s he ever actually done?
*(Probably goes without saying that people want Washington to get *certain things* done, not some amorphous “stuff.”)
Given that he's only talked about Republicans as his VP I think it's easy to see who is funding him, just like the rest of No Labels and any of these other clout-chasing chaos agent campaigns.
Leave this old carboniferous fossil behind, Democrats and do the hard work. Even in WV, vote for the actual Democrat running against him and at least if we die, we died with our boots on.
We can all sleep better now: Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.) is set to announce Friday that he will not run for president after months of flirting with a campaign that could complicate the 2024 race for the White House
I’ll go with my own Phil Collins theme here. His campaign is against all odds and he’s living in a land of confusion. His campaign financing lives by the motto “keep it dark” but as it becomes apparent he is going nowhere his backers will tell him “That’s all” when he asks for more, with no hope to turn it on again. Before long he will be in too deep and have to admit “I missed again. Mama, take me home.” As for me, I don’t care anymore.
can't speak for the MSNBC audience, but this member of it hates Manchin and has never seen any okey dokey segments on the guy there, just frustration and side eye at his general obstruction of Democratic priorities and disgust with his fake humble aw shucks shtick.
If this had been the Oscars, I suspect Mrs Romney would have walked up to the stage, slapped Joe Manchin, and said “Keep my husband’s name out of your fucking mouth!”
HA HA HAHAHAAA
Lol this headline.

That’s funny
I swear he started to say "Neewt" in response to the VP question . . .

Ahahahah OK, well that's pretty funny. That was sure a Grand Opening/Grand Closing.
No one at the mall was interested.
"Of course, the MSNBC audience, centrist political consultants, and corporate donors all think Manchin’s a righteous dude."
As a paid-up charter member of the MSNBC audience (I've got the tattoo and I learned the secret handshake), I beg to differ!
I probably should have specified the Morning Joe panel types
You are so good, Mr. Robinson!
And Manchin is so pathetic.
Does he seriously believe Romney would accept being a
second banana under him? wow... crazier than I'd realized!
That cracked me up.. PERFECT!
Joe Manchin, legend in his own mind. Really hoping there’s never a biopic

Wonderful!
Amazing what you can do with a three word search combined with work boredom.
And thank you.

Let's face it, the focus on Biden's age is just a dog-whistle that his VP is a Black woman.
If this had been the Oscars, I suspect Mrs Romney would have walked up to the stage, slapped Joe Manchin, and said “Keep my husband’s name out of your fucking mouth!”
