I love this for Klannie Oakley! Wrecked her whole grift.
Also for the last bit, Byron Donalds is a clown too because he knew what he signed up for. The fact that there are more New Kids on the Block than Black Republicans in Congress should tell him something.
To see rich, white men - veterans even - pushed out of the "in crowd" is scary. To think of McCarthy, Buck and McConnell stepping aside and giving up power is wild. I don't know what we're on the cusp of. Hopefully, something good.
Interesting to me how Americans (us) find ways to come together. First, I'm no Ken Buck expert, and he doesn't represent me. But his position on the election, J6, and MAGA in general fits in with mine. This is common ground and should be celebrated. Same goes for Liz Cheney - not gonna vote for her unless I had to, but she is steadfast in the common cause we both share. Kinzinger seems to have even moved a little left through his experiences.
I'll note that Buck was a hard core Tea Party guy from the 2010 era, losing a race for CO Senator because he was too far to the right. Which goes to show how far the GOP has devolved in the past decade (don't believe anyone who tells you the GOP was always like this, because it's not true and just undermines the idea that former Republicans should abandon that mess of a party now). My guess is what finally pushed Buck over wasn't that the House gets nothing done--he's fine with that!--but that remaining an elected Republican means continuing to pass humiliation tests for Trump, and that becomes unsustainable if you have any sense of self respect.
As for Bobert, she could have tried "looking to her constituents' needs" (thousands of people in her district still need things like an advocate for Social Security claims, visa checks, potholes filled) and trying to be less of an embarrassment for even conservative voters. Instead, her act got to be too much for even a right wing district, which with her on the ballot became a swing district, and now she's going to look pretty awkward going back to CO-3 and pretending she didn't just try to abandon them for another district.
I've driven through there many times, it is very gop. But I still think the effect of Dobbs is to bring out millions of women everywhere. And they ain't voting gop.
The problem is that we are outnumbered out here. I'm in western Kansas (corn and cattle, as above) and my district is literally 2/3rds of the whole state., and mostly rural. Cook's political report says it's an R+24 district. Very hard to overcome that kind of advantage.
I like your optimism! I too, am a glass half full kind of person.
The biggest problem with these red state supermajorities in mostly safe seats is that legislators can do anything they want, whether their voters want it or not.
Since we beat back the anti-abortion amendment in 2022 (68-32), they've tried twice to ban abortion. The only thing saving us right now is Laura Kelly's veto pen.
As a resident of CO 4th, I have rarely praised Buck for anything. But if he can reduce my chances of being represented by Lauren "Fast Hands" Boebert he has my gratitude. Heck, I might even vote for him next election! Oh, wait ...
Good…Bobo must GO

I’m not an expert, but my advice would be for President Biden to turn this statement from Buck into a commercial real quick. Get it on TV asap.

Um...
Bwha ha ha ha ha!!!
I guess?
LOL
I do wonder if Buck did this to screw over Boebert.

A Democrat can win district 4 if the Democrat hammers on Dobbs all day every day. Try to straddle or downplay Dobbs and lose lose lose.
I hope you're right, but it's a tough district for Democrats - mostly cornfields and feedlots extending out to the Kansas and Nebraska state lines

Maybe. The full effect of Dobbs has yet to manifest, but it's coming.

Yes! I love Laura!
