The number one movie the first weekend after 9/11 was Hardball, starring Keanu Reeves and Diane Lane. Reeves plays Conor O'Neill, who must pay off his gambling debts by coaching a youth baseball team comprised of struggling fifth-grade kids from the Chicago projects. I never saw the film but I assume Conor learns something about himself, inspires the kids through his faith in them, and falls in love with Lane’s character because she’s in the movie.
Lane starred in another movie that opened that weekend, The Glass House. She plays a junkie doctor named Erin Glass who lives with her creepy pervert husband in a Malibu house that’s made of glass. I think this pushes the title pun too far. I don’t have a clear memory of how I spent the first weekend after 9/11, but I’m certain I didn’t see either of these movies.

Love the title of this post - a nice use of the titles of two movies released right after 9/11, both starring Diane Lane. I also don't remember clearly what I did that first weekend after 9/11, but am just as sure as you that I didn't see either movie.
The forecast is calling for highs in the upper 80s F or lower 90s F, here is Upstate SC, so no packing away white clothes yet. Even as a child, I always thought that the "no white after Labor Day" was stupid. Or maybe it's my own little way of being a nonconformist.
