I've said it before and I'll say it again. Islam is not a problem. Radical Islam is. Zionism is not a problem. Radical Zionism is. Christianity is not a problem. Radical Christianity is. You get the point.

"New York City Council Member Vickie Paladino said out loud, “I’m not asking politely for the mayor not to come to 9/11 ceremony. I am demanding he not show his face at that sacred ground. He does not belong there. We, the people, do not care for Zohran Mamdami.”"

Well "we, the people," seems to be a loose association of Staten Island/Howard Beach-type bigots because the man has a 69% approval rating among New Yorkers. But that's how this goes with bigots in this country. A proper country would shun throwbacks like this.

But what can we expect from a society that decided to respond to a national tragedy where we could've had unity, and begin to sow the seeds of sadopopulism. All starting with Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast (the Freedom Toast being particularly stupid as French toast is as American as apple pie)? And of course I'm old enough to remember the flap about a "Ground Zero mosque" (actually a community center).

The latter especially is why the stupid idea to tell Mamdani to stay away from the 9/11 memorial. Because to yogurt-brained bigots, all Muslims are bad. And every war we've fought, every struggle, in their mind...is to eradicate Muslims from public life.
