I'm glad your wife coached you on marching band respect. I was in one of those and it was a lot of work! We were pretty good for a bunch of suburban, mostly-white kids. Those bands in a lot of the HBCU's are amazing.

To the people upset that Mr Bunny sang in Spanish, this is nothing new—one of m favorite ear worms of all time was Kyu Sakamoto’s song “Sukiyaki” which hit number one on the American charts…in 1963. And English lyric songs are big hits even among audiences who don’t speak English. That’s how music works sometimes, Meghan! Not everything is about you, but I understand “permanently angry about everything” is the right wing hotness, like carving up your face on the economy plan because you think it hides your age.
A fun old Simpsons episode from back when the Super Bowl had cheapo entertainment had Homer watching a Thanksgiving halftime show with the fictional band “Hooray For Everything” singing their version of obscure disco hit “Get Dancing”.
Alas, that Prince's EPIC performance -- playing an electric guitar, jumping, wearing high heels, AND IN THE RAIN -- is not in the top ten (except in my heart).

Hmmm, you know, Pat Boone and Ozzie Osbourne, THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS, were next-door neighbors for a while and friends (as seen in Ozzie's reality show, the Osbournes -- although Ozzie was mad at him once and threw ham over the fence). Thanks for the Super Bowl halftime show history lesson. I was trying to remember when the NFL started booking the biggest stars in music for the show. Also thanks for the reminder that "In Living Color" halftime show was the inspiration for the NFL to change the format. Not all alternate halftime shows are busts!
The alternates come and go. MTV had Celebrity Death Match in the late 90s. And there will probably always be the likes of the Puppy Bowl.
But I can't think of any other time that a halftime show alternative was launched with such sheer animosity towards the main event as the one this year. How pathetic.
My spanish is so so at best and I couldn't understand a word of it. I realized it's not so much the spanish when Ricky Martin started singing and I could understand him. But I watched it with subtitles on and it was fantastic, it made me tear up a little. Love is stronger than hate, we are going to win.
I wonder if Megyn ever gets tired of being the racist lady from The Help?
Yeah I didn’t understand the words either but there is such a thing as a mondegreen for a reason. People will hear the words they think they are anyway. The message was joyful. I don’t need Google Translate for that.
There are a lot of songs sung in English that I don't understand, or have misunderstood, the lyrics. Fortunately, there are subtitles and sites with lyrics posted for those who want to know what is actually being sung. I enjoyed Bad Bunny's halftime show because it was full of joy. Also, it included abuelitas and abuelitos. I know enough Spanish to know that those terms are grandma and grandpa. When have grandparents been featured on the Super Bowl halftime show?
