I had a friend note that they are trying desperately to hang on to "norms" so they can just go back to business as usual after Trump really is gone, but that dream is long past-those norms are gone for good. Frankly, the American public is over them, too-one thing Biden promised was a "return to normalcy" and voters were having none of it. One positive to take out of all this is that there really will be the opportunity to look at our institutions (smoldering rubble that they may be by then) and redesign them in a much more efficient and responsive fashion. That's my hope, anyway. Time will tell.
