“Southern enslavers felt like their Northern neighbors were unfairly judging them simply because they [thought they] owned people.

In the vein of calling people “enslaved” as opposed to “slaves”, I would like to recommend this semantic correction.

I would say that people can be enslaved, held hostage, taken against their will, rendered helpless, imprisoned, etc.; but never truly “owned” by another person or persons.

Thank you for all you do.

Damn, my guy, this is magnificently written. I will share this on the ‘Book with much resignation as I fear the majority of my right wing “friends” lack the critical thinking skills necessary to make it past the second paragraph.

Alas, for me, this opinionated, veteran barkeep of some education, cast amongst the witless masses of the corporate restaurant industry! LOL

Makes perfect sense—liberals said such mean things about ICE, despite Homan begging them to tone down their rhetoric (hey, remember all the begging?) and that caused ICE to kill people somehow. It’s our fault for aggravating them!

They’re basically admitting that they’ve armed and deployed people so mentally fragile that violent rhetoric will make them murder citizens.

Minor point: it's not "Tom Holman", it's "Tom Homan". So heartbreakingly close to "Human", but he clearly has failed at that as well.

The oligarch lead and run GOP of today are clearly the heirs of the Confederacy, they are asserting the very same "We have the right to rule as we see fit" attitude across the board, not only with immigration, but with everything...they're pushing an imposed from the top culture that exhalts their rule by force: they want to impose vast societal changes to cement their theocratic oligarch rule whether we want it or not. They want a neo-feudal theocracy that cements their place at the top of the hierarchy in a world governed by force, and divided among the strongest.

It's not like this 'Thousand Year Reich' will last any longer than the previous one, but the human toll will be exponentially greater...

That it's happened before in this country is why the regime is desperate to conceal that history.

This is a hell of an article and an incredible way of weaving in history here...to show that it's the same story.

And this is why I call the supporters of Maladministration 2.0 and all of its atrocities the unreconstructed.
