We live in upside down land.

I do, however, blame Fauci for championing policies that may have helped keep Trump alive during the pandemic.

If he’d just given that man bleach, he’d have saved far more lives.

Such tough, tough guys Republicans are when they’ve been told in advance that the object of their hatred isn’t going to respond to them.

Fcking creeps.

I admit that I’m not generally very good at predictions, but one that I absolutely nailed was that being a Republican would require lying about something we all lived through just six years ago.

When you have a rightwing media human centipede at your disposal it needs grist. And people who are still pissed about having to be inconvenienced to save the lives of the Black and brown people tracked into jobs serving them love this. It's great to beat up on Fauci for this reason. And of course it also feeds the sadopopulism that gets Republicans to victory because Americans want to have a plausible reason to hate Chinese people. It's good to go to this well and that way random Chinese-Americans (or anyone looking "Asian" in the eyes of chuds) can get a taste of ultraviolence.

None of this is in good faith and Fauci was right to plead the Fifth.

IIRC wasn’t operation WarpSpeed the idea of Kushner? Didn’t they also withhold vaccines to Black and poor communities?

Rather than get all charged up over actual harm such as The Epstein Files (fuck you Megyn!) these allegations were more manufactured that the virus in Wuhan.

How do we bring back truth? 2020 wasn't all that long ago, we should all remember it. RFK is going on CNN talking about empty ICUs in NYC in the middle of the pandemic, I remember the morgue trucks, THAT HAPPENED! What the hell is wrong with these people that just straight up lie to our faces? And what the hell is going on in the brains of the people who believe them?

They have a rightwing media human centipede and we don't, so they can recreate reality as they see fit.

Because Republicans always attack the defenseless? Is this a trick question?

And that's a thing millions of Americans love.

Autocrats need villains and scapegoats. Still alive? Thank Dr. Fauci and the millions of Americans who listened to him and other trained medical experts.

Where is our “at long last, have you no shame?” moment from the Democrats? I don’t see how a mentally functioning adult can watch these oozing scumbags pile on at the longtime public servant who obviously did nothing wrong here (except maybe not resigning once it was clear Trump would make the pandemic worse—at some point you can’t do good serving such people, and you need to drop the fantasy that you can steer him in the right direction). Yet Democrats keep maintaining decorum, allowing regular business to continue, even voting for some Trump nominees, and giving fawning tributes when one of the scumbags dies.

At least one of them needed to jump the table, punch out Rand Paul and say “that’s from your neighbor, Brillo head!” Instead we get the measured, sober tones that tell the general public “this is all so normal I completely forgot about the Epstein files, ICE gunning down citizens, and our being the first power to lose to Iran since the Medes.”

Fuck everyone.

On a SLIGHTLY 'up' note...It would have gone over VERY differently if this had been a House hearing.

"Where is our “at long last, have you no shame?” moment "

I literally came here to say those exact words

I agree, fuck everyone! It's all so off the rails. Nobody even challenges their bullshit anymore.

To let their gaslighting continue is to participate in it. Why didn’t Democrats walk out, declare it a farce, and hit the media circuit over how Republicans are gaslighting cultists trying to smear a public servant? Do they just assume everyone “gets it”? Because 2024 should have taught them that no, everyone dies not “get it” at all.

belfryo's avatar

Right?

THAT'S the story here....

This is a fucking 'Senate' problem IMO...If this had been a House hearing it would have been a VERY different animal...In a good way. No way AOC, Crockett or Raskin woulda let this slide, and those are just the names that come off the top of my head. I am a MUCH bigger fan of House dems than Senate dems at this point. I have to wonder though if there wasn't some weird procedural obstacle keeping them from speaking up? Fauci must feel really betrayed
