Let’s not forget all the Democratic consultants who are worried about their paychecks and how they are tied to the same old thinking they’ve always barfed out to candidates. The last thing they want to do is admit they are outdated
Also Betsy Macaughey will be whatever you pay her to be. I would take everything she says with a grain of salt. Including her opinions on salt grains.
Wait! What? Commenters are blaming the guy who is NOT in charge of public safety for the failures of the guy who IS in charge of public safety, and who had campaigned on a platform of keeping the city safe?
Thing with the NYT. It squandered all of its legitimacy-capital whitewashing Trump over the last few years while conspicuously holding Democrats to a different impossible standard. Taking a dump on their left-leaning audience base and turning them off...You only get to pull this double standard shit for so long before you get ditched and you become irrelevant as a 'king maker'. The NYT will have no sway or push in this race.
I will donate folding Ameros to Mamdani if he goes up to the Fifth Ave windows of the Fox and Friends studio and pastes his face and hands on the glass and mugs behind the oblivious chattering airheads...
Although seriously, these monied interests trying to frame these high profile gun violence events as a failing of Mamdani and not current mayor Eric Adams and his 'more police will stop the violence' is the same finger pointing used against Obama when he was president-elect when they tried to call 2008 financial crisis 'Obama's recession'.
Fortunately both Obama and Mamdani are good speakers and cut through this crap.
That was great framing by Mamdani. I like the way he turned the bad faith framing around. Definitely has to keep it up. There's going to be more bad-faith BS coming his way for sure; we all know some unhoused person is going to do *something*, probably on the subway and that's the greatest test. Because people all over the political spectrum hate the unhoused and at best find them annoying. I think if Mamdani can tackle that as well, he's in like Flynn.
That said, obviously once he's in office there will be even greater challenges made to try and stop any progressiveness, but ideally New Yorkers will be backing him fully, despite what the money people want.
Please, New Yorkers, don't fall for Mamdani's opponents and their backers "fears" and "concerns" for public safety! They will spend fortunes to protect their own money, and don't give a damn about your money, nor for your safety.
The irony - if they weren't hellbent upon keeping the quality of life down for most Americans, they would be happier people, and still have most of their money.

Excellent recap. 👏🏼
Andy Cuomo is amazing, and I have to give him credit.
Somehow, he always manages to make himself even more contemptible than he was the day before.
Thank you, Stephen. Excellent breakdown, as always.

Boy I really hope this gentleman wins. I really think he’s a breath of fresh air.
