Laramie Dean, author of the upcoming book There’s No Such Thing As a School for Witches, which you should pre-order right now, returns to discuss a major inspiration for his book — the delightful Angelique Collins (née Bouchard), aka Cassandra Blair Collins, aka Angelique DuVal (or DuBois, depending on the episode), aka Angelique Rumson, aka Valerie Collins, aka Miranda DuVal, from the classic 1960s Dark Shadows TV series, aka our favorite show. (Yes, I know, come Christmastime, I’ll say it’s The Avengers, but it’s the Halloween season now.)
The witch (and sometimes vampire) of seemingly a thousand names was brought to devilish life by the late Lara Parker, aka Mary Lamar Rickey, who was born on October 27. Lara unfortunately passed away a few weeks shy of her birthday in 2023.
Angelique remains immortal, though, so we’ll always take this day to celebrate them both.
“We’re all on the same side, aren’t we? My side.”
