Happy 15th Anniversary. Your writing and perspective are always a pleasure to read. I agree with many who have grown weary of having Trump's stupid, boring, cruel reality show force fed to us for the last decade. He and his creepy family and their enablers will continue to do the only thing they know how to do. They will never face any consequences for their crimes. Enough already. My plan is to completely disengage from, and ignore the Trump chaos. I will move on with more productive uses of my time and energy; working with mutual aid communities, protecting the vulnerable in our lives, doing what we can as individuals to protect our environment, and looking hopefully toward a better future.

Stephen, this is one of the few places where I am staying for now, and partly because you cover culture and arts, not just politics, but when you cover politics, it's a unique perspective. Same for Crip Dyke and Evan Hurst, but I give up on the MSM. As for a paid subscription - I hope to be able to do so after the first of the year, as I will get a small COL increase and my health insurance premium will go down (I have to change insurance companies, because America doesn't want socialized medicine, because reasons).
ETA: I am getting serious about decluttering, and it is a long term project. Getting that done will make me feel better, because being productive always does. And I think less about how stupid and hateful so many people are, which both angers and depresses me.

Well, I am an actual writer with three monographs published by university presses and several anthologies and many more chapters and articles over 20-plus years. And was an editor for a medical school for twelve years before that, and now teach writing at the university level. But I did not mean to offend.
I also am an actual professional editor and writer, and I taught editing and writing to undergraduates for three years while pursuing my PhD. It’s my respect for brilliant writing such as Stephen’s that would preclude me from lecturing him about his work. No offense.

I have a feeling I'm going to need retreats like "PlayTyperGuy" more now than ever. The image that keeps coming to me and leaking into my responses to both last Tuesday and the shit show that's unfolded before us since Trump entered the (real) political scene is that we have to link arms, hang on to each other, and hold each other up.
I think we will lose some folks along the way, and this breaks my heart. I just want to support and save as many of us as we can. Telling the trut though discussion, writing and the arts, as always, is part of that.
